So here's a good one for you... as some of the "regulars" on this thread would know, I order a lot of stuff from amiami.com... so get this, I get an email last night from them saying they have decided to cancel my account and delete all my pre-orders! Why you say?

Because a couple months ago they changed their policy on shipping, so on small orders they now require you to ship with a tracking number... which is much more costly... I had a couple of Choro-Q's pre-ordered for $10.00CAD each and they came available... but under the new rules the shipping was $30.00CAD instead of <$10.00 like it used to be for regular surface/air without a tracking#.

So, long story short, I didn't buy either of them because of the high shipping costs... so the email I got from them last night was saying I have a high incident of unpaid pre-orders and they are cancelling my account as a result! Totally ignoring the fact I've spent thousands of dollars on that site AND deleting about $3,000+ worth of pre-orders (I don't even know all of what I had pre-ordered anymore because they completely deleted it!) over two different $10.00 items I decided not to go through with! Unbelievably bad customer service and downright shocking coming from a Japanese company. Talk about stupid! I have written a complaint in, will see if they respond.

I can no longer recommend using them though if they are going to be so petty.

I find that they are usually understanding if there is communication. Same as you, I've been spending a huge amount of $$$ annually on that site since 2011 and even more now with the decent exchange rate.

Did you email them saying you didn't want the Choro-Q's anymore due to their shipping policy has changed or simply just ignored their payment requests and didn't pay for that order?

I emailed the first one for the new concept NSX saying that the pre-order was done before they changed their shipping policy....... the second one I was in Europe and when the pre-order came up (Toyota Levin Choro Q) and they finally posted a pic I didn't like the way it looked on top of the high shipping and meant to email them, but it got lost in a sea of AirBnB/flight/train/rental car emails while traveling.

I understand their policy, but at the same time there was no warning besides 1 time like 2 years ago when I was hard up for money that month and told them I didn't want a Kyosho 1:43 that I had ordered yet the email I got last night says they have repeatedly warned me. Not. Checked spam bin and everything... just seems ridiculous, I definitely don't feel valued as such a loyal customer all these years.

IMO you should email them and try to call them or contact their North American contact

I find that Japanese companies are initially difficult, but once you talk with them, they're usually pretty understanding and helpful. Or you can pull rank and they usually will be accommodating.

This is from my experience

Just an update, I emailed them asking if they can please reconsider and that it's highly unfair considering the amount of money I've spent/that they're losing thousands in future business this way and that it was their shipping policy change that caused me not to want those 2 Choro-Q's... And to please reinstate my preorders. This was their response:

Hi.

Thank you for mailing us.

Unfortunately all orders have already been canceled and we are unable to undo cancellations.

We apologize for the inconvenience.
Thank you for shopping at AmiAmi.

So I sent another email asking if they can at least send me a list of what I had pre ordered so I can watch out for the items and that I had dozens of things on there and can't possibly remember all of them... They sent this as a response:

Hi again.

Unfortunately that is not possible.

We apologize for the inconvenience.
Thank you for shopping at AmiAmi.

So there you have it, quite possibly the shittiest customer treatment I've ever seen in my entire life shopping online... No loyalty, no recognition of how much future business is being lost... I wish them luck but I will never ever shop there again.

i'm sorry this happened to you.

i have limited experience with pre-orders. i have one order from frontiart, and a few outstanding ones with dayboxtoys, but they require full payment in advance. but because of this, the price (discounted for preorders) and shipping is locked in at whatever the cost of shipping and exchange rate was at the time the order was placed. cancellations/refunds are only possible if the release dates were not met by the manufacturer... i always thought this was the norm?

are you a member of any diecast message boards? i was wondering what other collectors have to say, or if they are experiencing what you just did as well. maybe strength in numbers could make a difference.

APM/Frontiart Oakley Design LP760-2. it's pearl white with a carbon roof, but the junk camera on my phone isn't do it much justice. bought from a collector in SG thinning out his collection.

Haha tell me about it... I never responded after the last email, but they saw fit to send ANOTHER response to me saying, and I quote, "Our store policy is clear and your unpaid orders have become so excessive as to leave us no choice. We warned you."

What a bunch of cocky fuckers, going out of their way to send me an insulting email now. $30 worth of Choro-Q's... oh my god so excessive!!!!!

Their site is pretty thorough... For example they had (and I did have) preorders for all 4 colours of the Ignition NSX model coming out this fall but daboxtoys only has the white one... And for $60CAD more than amiami was offering it for on top of that.

Last Days at Wilkinsons

Here are some shots after Wilkinson announced closing. Zoom in to back wall to see a first gen RX-7. There is a small passage way to the back back there. In there he had 8 foot high rolling shelves packed with stuff. Then he had an off-site warehouse nearby with even more stuff. From there he produced a 1995 FD3S shop manual (which has proven to be priceless).;

It can change modes, and all modes look incredible, but it's quite difficult and fragile. I changed it to all 3 modes once, and not doing it again LOL

Here are some pictures of what the other 2 modes are supposed to look like (not my pictures)
