I left a note at the shop in Shanghai back in 2010, and today he gave me a call, he just brought in 2 of original Nissan R34 Z-Tune Z2s, I bought both instantly, should be arriving here sometime towards the end of Aug/ early Sept.

Just gauging interest if anyone here would like to get dibs on the second one, it would be close to $350 CAD landed, if not, then its going up on e-Bay.

PM me and let me know.

Just picked up an Initial D set of choro q's and two 1:64 Kyosho 240Z's.

I have one of the Kyosho 240z for sale along with some choro q's in this thread below.

interesting. the bumpers are separate from the main shell. not that common on resin models? i wonder what other future variations there will be.

thumper 07-14-2015 07:14 PM

can you talk a bit about the led lighting you have set up?

TL_99 07-14-2015 07:37 PM

They're the 5M LED strips off ebay. They have to be wired to a power source. Plenty bright too.

thumper 07-14-2015 07:46 PM

what is your power source? household current or...?

i was looking at this awhile back:

http://www.leevalley.com/en/wood/pag...,43349&p=70322

but i wasn't sure what is the right amount of $ to spend...

TL_99 07-14-2015 08:06 PM

The strips were bought a long time ago. I believe it was like 10 bucks USD for a 5M reel back then and I bought 4 reels. As for power source, my dad had some spare so I didn't need to buy.

godwin 07-14-2015 09:06 PM

The 12V power supply is where things usually fails.. That part is something I would spend good money on, especially if you own your place.. you know since it gets plugged into the wall.. make sure it get UL CSA etc just in case it catches fire and you need to make a claim.

I like a more diffused look, so I usually have my lights reflect of something instead.

As for amperage.. figure out how long you many LED you are going to hook up to it and round it up.

Coming soon, Autoart 1/18 DeLorean DMC-12

Quote:

The 1/18-scale DeLorean represents the first time AUTOart has undertaken the challenge of producing a die-cast model car body with a brushed stainless-steel finish. The whole development of this model took over two years from start to finish. To replicate the same effect and texture in a scale model is a long and painstaking process. Different types of nickel-chrome plating effect have been tried. The surface finish cannot be too glossy, i.e.: a mirror finish, which is what usually results from normal chrome plating. To simulate the actual brushed stainless-steel texture, more than one year of continuous trial and error was required before the desired glossiness was achieved.
Before the chrome-plating process, the cast body surface needs to be finely polished, then buffed to a perfect finish in order to achieve a good chrome-plating result. The polishing process alone takes an average of 70 minutes for each and every body, and is performed by experienced workers. After the chrome plating, the surface is polished again with a special formulated cloth roller to create the very fine hairline texture simulating exactly the brushed and polished stainless-steel body texture of the DeLorean. The chrome plating of the complicated body shape must be flawless, but tiny bubbles or rashes often appear in some areas of the body after the plating, which means the body must be scrapped as rework is impossible. Because of this, more than 40% of the metal bodies are scrapped after chrome plating, making the production cost extremely high. The price point reflects AUTOart’s commitment to delivering the highest possible precision to its discerning collectors by creating a fitting tribute to this unique car and its exceptional story.

A bit over the top I think? I mean no one can deny how famous the BTTF DeLorean is, but the car itself is a piece of shit with a weakass unreliable version of the PRV motor and a speedometer that didn't even go past 85mph... thereby making the 88mph required for time travel purposes impossible to achieve on the actual car hahaha ;)

I'd hardly call the story exceptional. Interesting yes...... Exceptional no.
