Hi guys - hoping for some help.

Can anybody recommend an online retailer (or local) to purchase a 1:18 scale 2014 Mercedes Lewis Hamilton model? Spark made one that I'm particularly interested in (it's the one that Lewis is actually holding the Union Jack) but I'm not totally familiar with Spark and am a little cautious about the places selling it online.

I prefer Minichamps as I have a number of those already... any thoughts? Ideas?

I have bought from them extensively in the past but didn't realize they have the Spark model!!!!

MERCIIII...

Sunfighter 09-27-2015 11:59 AM

Final question - from the folks here - resin vs diecast? :)

Minichamps = diecast and Spark = resin... but I prefer the inclusion of the Union Jack on the Spark model... anybody with experience and knowledge that they can speak to?

68style 09-27-2015 03:07 PM

Resin usually means better panel gaps and details but also means there won't be any opening door parts or anything like that... Which is not really an issue on a F1 car anyway since it has no doors or trunk/engine lids.

Sunfighter 09-27-2015 08:37 PM

Spark model it is!

Thanks guys!

Personally i have always preferred diecast, but looking at some models that resin manufacturers are putting out there are really nice.. for example GT spirit and the 370z.. which autoart has not yet released.

thumper 09-28-2015 08:22 AM

some insider info... gt spirit had a callout in europe for stock japanese cars, such as silvias and this dc2r:

https://scontent-sea1-1.xx.fbcdn.net...c1&oe=56A50AD6

supposedly we'll be seeing these in the gt spirit lineup (not ottomobile) sometime late next year :high:

TSM models is releasing a 1/18 resin of the new NSX in a month's time... but it's $999HKD :(

I got it from save on foods lol for $2.

thumper 09-28-2015 08:36 AM

this is even more expensive than the NSX... 2090hkd :(

this is preproduction, but one glaring mistake i see is the red honda badges... i'm pretty sure they were not inset like what is shown? also, are the side mirrors out of scale?
