Unfortunately you are a little late in the season. Most clubs operate during the summer, the only club that runs through winter is UBCSCC.

There are club memberships and event fee's. Usually about $50 for each depending on club..

Everything you need to know from car class to helmets are in those links..

No worries man, its good to see new people getting interested.. I just started this summer and I am absolutely hooked on AutoX. I went to every event VCMC hosted, and I took 1st place in novice.. Its an absolute blast.

I always been intresred to let the steam out,but having fun in a family sedan in the dry takes a good beating on a car,wet sounds more fun as well.

OP, I understand your intentions are good, but I honestly don't think it's worth it.

A stock G35 will be fine on wet roads with a decent set of tires, and even in the snow, as long as you drive carefully (again, with decent tires), it won't be much of a problem.

If your girlfriend drives like the gas pedal only two settings, down and up, then take her keys and hide it for the winter.

I dont like the way she drives, but at the same time i am in no right to change her driving style,my intention are that if something does happend she will.be confident on how to react, not to just press the brake.
she has a identical car to me and honestly it kind of makes me scary being a.passenger:)

Don't do it in any public parking lots. If you're caught, you'll be in some deep shit.

I can't exactly condone this kind of behaviour since I was in a friend's car a few years back and had several cruisers storm into the lot and accuse us of stealing the car, even handcuffing us  Took a lot of explaining to get them to release us. This was in UBC, private property so not much could be done, except for a hefty ticket.

Take it to the track.

There's a Cap D event later on this month iirc. That'd be your best bet

How exactly are you going to simulate what she may face in the winter? Steal snow from an ice rink and lay it out?

The only way you can do it right now, is at high speeds, or when it's super wet. Going sideways at high speed is NOT the same as going sideways on snow.

The suggestions the members are giving you are for "lots" because that's what you asked for, but what what you're trying to do is, frankly in my humble and honest opinion, ridiculous.

Man up, tell your girlfriend she is a terrible driver and that you are worried about her safety, and tell her how to PREVENT going sideways, not try to teach her how to react once it happens.

Kudos to you for being a good bf though.

Seriously. If your girlfriend sucks at driving, it IS your place to tell her, because you aren't going to be happy if her lack of understanding of how dangerous driving can be results in something bad happening to either one of you. If you can't understand that taking her into a parking lot and teaching a bad driver to hammer the throttle, lose control, and try and get it back, is not the way of solving the problem, I think a third party teacher is in your best interest. Teach her how to not lose it in the first place. As said, losing control on wet pavement, and losing control on snow and ice is nowhere near equivalent.

i think he just wants to go rip around a parking lot in the rain...

I think this was a troll thread that backfired..

N8 10-19-2012 09:36 AM

Like the others said.. AutoX, then she can learn the basics of controlling a car at its limit. Until then, keep her off the damn road if she at risk of going sideways

Phil@rise 10-19-2012 12:47 PM

I used to use the nice icy parking lots of cypress and seymour mountains after closing time

FerrariEnzo 10-19-2012 01:34 PM

want to control a car sidways, get the NISSAN PIVO

Cool, yeah, Cypress is the best for tooling around without being hassled by cops.

AzNightmare 10-22-2012 11:50 AM

What a ridiculous thread. Controlling a car side ways? Are you trying to teach her how to drift?

There's no reason for her to need to know how to control a car swerving or sliding sideways in a normal driving situation. The only people that do that are either auto-crossing or doing drift competitions.

I don't know how bad of a driver your gf really is, but if she's considered unsafe just because she can't "drift", that's a pretty flawed point of view.

I can't even imagine ANY traffic scenario under ANY weather condition that controlling a car going sideways is necessary to avoid an accident. If you just control your car distance and drive at an appropriate speed, there would never be any incident where your car is spinning out of control in the first place.

You're just some guy that wants to teach your gf how to do some stunt driving, but it has absolutely nothing to do with trying to help her improve her safety.

TurboFC3S 10-23-2012 02:17 PM
