just got 3 tickets...help was just cruising around with 2 other buddies that drove their cars too. I happened to be the one in the back out of the 3, as we made a right i got pulled over. got a ticket for tinted windows, improper display of license plate, and N sign. My 300zx came with OEM tinted windows, the JDM bumper i just put on doesnt fit BC license plates the cop even tried to put the plate on himself. Are these disputable? He additionally wrote another ticket that is enforcing me to remove my OEM tint within 7 days. |
Ooooh a VI. If you can prove it came from the factory tinted, and i don't remember if there were Canadian spec 300ZX's? If there was and it came factory you should be fine, But if it was imported from the states your not. I may be wrong on that though... |
it's your responsibility to meet the requirements. you chose to put on the JDM bumper without ensuring a BC license plate fit. |

Agree with everyone here. You are the owner of the car, therefore you are responsible for your ownership of it. Whether your plate fits or not, you are required to have a front plate, if the plate doesn't fit, then go to a shop that can make a mount for you. If you have front tint, then remove it. If it is factory canadian spec, then prove it. Nissan will be able to help you with telling you if it's factory tint or not. And honestly on a 18-20 yr old car, your "factory tint" would probably be purple by now... Your reasons for a ticket are the simplest of the simplest, tinted windows, no front plate... such a simple VI. Try getting past "your car being too low" or "your tires are outside your fenders". |
Drill new holes in your plate to fit the bumper... What I did.. Easier then making a new bracket to fit Posted via RS Mobile |
Factory tint is die added to the glass during the manufacturing process. Anything else is illegal. |They sold you 2 plates...display them both...along with your N. You could find yourself walking for a few months if you don't comply with the regs and laws. Don`t know of any ticket that gives you 7 days to remove tint. He either gave you a VT for the tint or a notice & order that tells you to immediately remove the tint and report within 7 days. Mandatory inspection orders are either a number one that takes the car off the road on the spot or a number 2 that gives you 30 days to pass an inspection. The first one I mentioned is a `box 3 |
Agree with everyone else. These are the simplest items for a ticket. Remove the front tint, although also illegal but better than what you have right now drill new holes into the license plate to make it fit. See if they make license plate covers for such a process so it hides it better. And not displaying your N... Why u no display N!?! :yuno: Posted via RS Mobile |
The fastest way we could help you is if you can just.... http://www.spareroom.co.nz/wp-conten...on_footage.jpg Then you wouldn't have any problems with getting anymore future tickets, nor having to 1) remove your tint 2) mount your front licence plate 3) display your N |
3M and tape that plate on :troll: so where you driving around with the plate on the dash? your N sign.. haha did you even put that on?? at least show us a pic of your car so we know if its even disputable.. at this stage, most of the people will side with the cops... |
i'll play devils advocate. what makes you think you can dispute it. would like to hear your case. -serious request. |
My 1996 Q45 has factory front tint cops that pulled me over didn't give me any crap for it. I would think maybe it's a Nissan thing. |
this thread delivers. |

you must be 18 |
Some of the F series trucks at the Ford dealership has fairly dark tinted windows all around, they're brand new too... Always wondered what would happen if a cop pulled them over. When I had the JDM trunk on my civic, the plate wouldn't fit either. Actually, the plate doesn't even fit on my EG right now. I just drilled holes into the plate and mounted them on anyways, I'm sure you could do the same. Though I'm not too sure what the autobroker or ICBC would do about that when you return the plates lol. I didn't get questioned when I dropped off my plates but I can imagine there being a fine since technically the plate isn't your property or something...? Beats drilling into your JDM bumper though if you want to resell it in the future. Or you could just go to home depot and make a diy bracket for a few cents... |
Did you have a "N" sign or "Z" sign? |

Display your N sign! Please! Girl: You should take that N sign off, such a turn off Me: Fine, *removes sign* Cop: Here's you're ticket for failing to display N sign Me: FML! |
N means nothing these days. I know people who are now qualifying for Roadstar but have Ns. Why? Afraid of/too lazy to take the test. |

They must have renewed their Class 7 license multiple times. With the Class 7 restrictions, I can't see why they wouldn't get the Class 5. Unless they are breaking rules. |
Remove front tints if they caught you already. Drill two holes on the front plates or make brackets as mentioned by others. DISPLAY YOUR N. there's no reason to give them another chance to write you up. It's free for the N sign. But not displaying it costs you $86. Try to be nice and talk to the cops when you go in for inspection having done everything above. If its your first ticket (assuming you just got your N) they might be nice and knock off one or two charges. Hope it helps=) Posted via RS Mobile |
Is it a offense if I display a N sign on my car but I have Class 5? I had so many people honking at me when I don't display N because I was learning manual. |
There's nothing in the MVA that goes against having an N sign Posted via RS Mobile |
