Massage Place In Vancouver?

Hello Guys,

I'm looking for a good massage place here in Vancouver or DT Van. Currently I do have $600 of insurance to use this year and will have 1k or more next year. So far I'm thinking to go to absolute spa in River Rock Casino... any reviews on their service and the place it self? Any alternative with absolute spa that is less cheaper? I'm also looking for a place that offer reflexology and acupuncture.

Thanks

Other than the usual

In order to qualify for insurance claims, don't the "spa" need to have a certified massage person?

I was told that a body scrub (not covered) but a massage might be, depending on the place. This was a Yaletown Spa on Cambie.

I have heard my friend (girl) going to Shangri-la and Pacific Rim and they were able to claim it. Can guys go to any spa places?

Massage needs to be done by an RMT.
They can write you a receipt with their RMT number so you can claim it.

Since it's Halloween, most massage parlours....eerrr I mean Spas can have the masseuse "dress up" as an RMT.

I went to absolute spa at Fairmont hotel. It was a good experience overall. Amenities were great, service was great, you can chill after the massage at the resting room (you get a small snack). The massage itself was very relaxing, and the masseuse was professional. They ask you which area you want to work on, or where you have pains, etc.

Generally it has to be a registered RMT and depending on your insurance provider, they only cover up to certain dollar amounts they consider reasonable (usually around $100 for 60 minutes). Be aware that if you go to a high end hotel or fancy spa, the price is often much higher than that.

They are okay. I got a $49 groupon for a 60 mins body scrub and 30 mins massage. I got a 40 y/o chinese lady and my gf got a 25-30 y/o korean girl. The place is clean but people who work there are quite fobby.

The body scrub is not covered through insurance. The massage might.

It was my first experience. So I have nothing to compare with.

the place must have an RMT
also I used Yaletown Massage Therapists (Mark Porter), the guy was pretty good.
His charge was $90/hr. I got reimbursed $48 because that is the "average rate of the region as described by Great West Life". So look into where you can get $50 massages if you want to truely take advantage of the benefit without paying out of pocket.

Book Appointment : New Westminster : West Coast College of Massage Therapy

If only looking for massages, these people are going to school to be RMT's and from what I've heard the instructor is overlooking while the student does the massage. Usually goes an extra 10-15 minutes because of instruction. But at $41 you can't really beat it. I don't think it's covered in insurance tho. Unfortunately it's not in Van or DT.

Google BC massage therapist association and search for RMT members in BC. You can look for RMT's close to you or in specific area of Vancouver. All RMT's have passed their schooling so they should be decent. Some of the spa's use non RMT people for the massages so those people may be cheaper but you might not be able to get a receipt to claim insurance.

So that's like a two-girl deal right? If I were to get the same massage in a foreign country it would cost me a pretty penny.

You would not be able to claim insurance unless they were an RMT. Look around, and maybe google, im sure there are plenty of wellness centers in your area that have rmts. A lot of chiro clinics have rmts on site also.

I'm confused. Why don't you pick a place, go there and try it. If you like it, go back. You don't like it, then find another place.

If you've never been to a massage before, then go to Absolute Spa and book an RMT. The first time, I went to the Absolute Spa at Park Royal and really enjoyed it.

Last week I had a 1 hour deep tissue massage with a RMT from the River Rock location.

Highly recommend! With her "release" techniques I got rid of shoulder soreness from a year ago.
