what canadians should be upset with is the level of taxation on fuel - that is the main reason we pay so much more than in the US - regulation would result in less taxes received (it can't affect the cost of production) - so we will be taxed in other ways, and heaven knows we can't get taxed on our income or consumption much more without dire consequences to the economy

I'm not surprised gas prices drop in the winter. Less people drive due to snow (maybe not so much here due to the lack of snow). I guess that might entice people to drive.
Then, when summer comes around and people want to drive, gas goes right up.

I don't think oil prices have a big affect on gas prices. | I totally agree. I don't remember the exact years, but I remember there were times when crude oil prices dropped but the price at the pump stayed the same.

And the money that comes from carbon tax and Translink taxes will then come out of your paycheque as increased income tax, which is much less visible for most.

Regulating pricing strategies, however, might be. Why not make it so that gas stations have to put a markup based on their wholesale price? Why should it be that a station is changing their sign three times a day when the price they paid for the gas hasn't changed at all, given that they'll get deliveries once or twice a week?

The article would have more validity if I were the information source, it's that bad.

awesome to see gas prices dropping, but when your car sips gas it doesn't make a huge difference anyways, over the long run it might if prices stay consistent and they usually don't. and i assume once prices start rising people will drive conservatively right? lol
