"Drop in gas prices expected..." - $1.15 by end of 2012?!

Drop in gas prices expected to continue - News1130

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - It's going to get even cheaper to drive your car this winter -- cheaper than it's been in the last two years.

You may have already noticed that prices at the pump have been dropping and experts are predicting they'll continue to drop over the next couple of months.

Jason Toews with GasBuddy.com says Vancouver should see gas prices on average around $1.15 by the end of the year.

"We'll see some stations even under $1.10 per litre in the Vancouver area," says Toews, talking about the Lower Mainland, Richmond, and Coquitlam.

He says the prices are tied to crude oil and right now supplies are plentiful, so crude oil is down which in turn drops how much you pay at the pump.

Toews adds however you shouldn't get too comfortable with the low prices.

"We are going to see gas prices go up again next summer, and unfortunately, I think we're going to reach record levels next summer, probably around $1.50 per litre."

Woot?!

Gas prices should be regulated.

To add to my point, I'm not saying regulate it to a ridiculous low, as in 50 cents/ liter, i'm just saying it should have a maximum it can fluctuate in either direction, say $1.00-$1.30

sad part is they can raise it to almost anything they want, people will still have to drive, leisure driving will obviously drop, but we are too dependent on it.

So ill take this as a good thing, it dropping even temporarily saves me money!

Every Winter is forecast to be the worst in a century.

Every Summer it's predicted gas prices will hit record highs.

Our Winters haven't been especially harsh in recent years.

Gas prices this summer failed to break the record highs set five(?) years ago.

Worrying based on clearly sensationalist journalism is wasted energy, especially given that you cannot control the weather or price of a free market commodity.

Gas will increase in the next little bit from the effects of hurricane Sandy. Apparently it's gonna hit the US mainland today / already has hit.

So this guy is credible because:
1) he runs a website that tracks gas prices
2) he saw the price of crude oil dropping

Here is something stupid.

Last week gas price in Nanaimo 132.9
Price in Duncan 118.9
Gas from Nanaimo and Duncan comes from the same depot in Nanaimo.

The wholesale gas price for gas stations in Nanaimo was higher than the retail price in Duncan.

I don't think oil prices have a big affect on gas prices.

Gas price always goes cheaper in the winter people less people go out and go on long road trips aside from snowboarding or skiing. Summer gas prices always go up because people like to go out more, cruise more, and make long trips. So am I an expert now??

they predicted this past summer that gas prices to top $1.50/l level, never happened as it was hovering around $1.30/l

these past couple months was hovering around $1.40/l level but it is dropping now, and now they are saying next summer to be around $1.50/l level, i'll believe it when I see it and that applies to the weather too
