This event is not multi-cultural, but it is pretty cool nonetheless: Vintage and Revamped Market | bcliving |
The day-long event takes place on West Broadway between Blenheim and MacDonald from 11am to 9pm. It includes a Main Stage with musical and dance acts, secondary entertainment areas, a Kids Zone, a Cooking Demonstration Tent, and various activities and presentations showcasing Hellenic culture, Greek tourism, and Greeks in Vancouver. Of course we offer several food tents with delicious Greek food, and refreshments. And to round things off, we have an Agora (marketplace) where merchants sell and haggle their wares. ^damn, free movie at Victory Square........ gotta go............ edit: should have gone :okay: :yuno: post this earlier, LOLOLOLOLOL |
Went to Powell Street Festival today. It was massive. And the food, OMFG. For me it was chicken karaage wars between Mogu and Hapa Izakaya. Both were good. Mogu was the usual, over the top, enough garlic to kill any vanpire within city limits, while Hapa was a little more subtle. Chicks in traditional kimono outfits, cosplay, taiko groups, dancers, performers, even a local sumo tournament. I've always dropped my family off at the event in recent years (I hate crowds), but decided to check it out in more detail this year. The festival has expanded so much. BTW, it continues tomorrow, as well. Did I mention food? Hands down better than nightmarket...... well, not fair, I guess. Different type of food. You gotta try the sake kasu ice cream. Not for everyone, but definitely different (alcohol and ice cream, LOL). There's honestly lots to do there. Displays of Japanese culture (Ikebana, martial arts, traditional dance, poetry, visual arts, crafts, etc.). Also a historical display of that part of the city (Japantown). |
Attended the Gay Pride celebrations this afternoon. One of the best ones yet. Had a rice burger at Powell Street Festival then headed downtown. A feast for the eyes. So colourful. I love Vancouver! |
^ busy man :ahwow: |

water fight Stanley Park August 10 |
anything happening lately? |
Well, not multicultural, but.......... Food Cart Fest I guess it can be, since it's food from lots of other cultures and lands...... there you go. Last year, it was held at the Waldorf and it was jam packed. This year doesn't look that great. Plus, they are charging admission.... way to kill it. Might as well go to Night Market for frick's sake /rant. |
There's Vancouver Greek Food Festival in September. September 20, 21, 22. Hellenic Community of Vancouver |
Nikkei Fall Harvest Fair Experience Japanese food and culture. September 28, 2013 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM 3rd Annual Nikkei Fall Harvest Fair |
It celebrates the full moon and harvest abundance, honouring diverse cultural traditions. The festival highlights art, music, environmental stewardship, and community participation. annual Renfrew Ravine Moon Festival |
Yay, your first thanks! The ravine at Renfrew park. I remember going there for the first time close to 50 years ago. The place was so different back then. The ravine was undeveloped and pretty darn dangerous. After a heavy rainfall, the ravine would be like a raging river. It's good to hear that the salmon are back. |
