I used Derek for my R34, but Mark has snagged a GTR already for another member on GTRC. Also, Fraser Valley Imports (whom is a friend) uses both. Can't go wrong with either, but if you need to store it until next year then I would go with Brave Auto.

that was a sobering read. suddenly buying a car from one of those shady used car lots on kingsway dosen't seem so bad.

I wonder if we'll ever see a V-Spec II Nur in Vancouver :ahwow:

Are JDM cars eligible for Collector's?

Yes, but ICBC doesn't care about trim level so it has to be 25 years old IIRC. The only way they can be newer is if there were only x number of that model produced.

Maybe they changed it since then all I know is when I read the pamphlet last month it specified that it had to be a limited numbers model, not trim. If someone can specify otherwise I'd be stoked because I want to try and insure my car as a modified collector (1 of 1800).

twitchyzero 09-18-2013 10:38 PM

yeah it does specify model but something tesll me that's not a strict rule they always go by 100% of the time
the cut off is 1500 for a specific MY worldwide...too bad yours is just a bit over

if you have a limited production car that's clean title and stock...doesnt hurt to apply

Is there a TL:dR coles notes for us? I was curious, but one reply was the length of an RS thread so I gave up.

Sum of it was that the original negotiated price was raised on the buyer of the car in question, and that the buyer was forwarded a forged auction sheet that could have hidden some issues that the car could have had. Fraud accusations ensued. Thats what I drew from it anyways.

Because everything you read on the internet is true, right?

People tend to get a thought in their head and then do everything possible to find "proof" that compliments their theory while ignoring the rest. Just keep that in mind. I don't know the story, but he was recommended to me by a friend who has imported a lot of cars through him. I've had a decent experience with him on the buying part, so far the shipping has taken forever but that's not in his hands, thats the fault of the boats being overbooked.

I just saw this post, the middle east has had LHD R34's for at least 10 years now. But those guys have nearly unlimited budgets, I'm guessing the firewall and dashes were custom built, and if I remember right you had to do some funky mods to get the steering rack to fit which resulted in a drop in horsepower.

twitchyzero 09-19-2013 06:08 PM

few pages back ppl were saying R34 LHD dashes can be found in the Phillipines and Taiwan

Kim Jong Un 09-30-2013 08:19 PM

there was a LHD r32 gtr on autotrader awhile back for sale in ontario that came from dubai. the dash was a fiberglass shell (badly) wrapped in suede. the steering gear was a frakenstein assembly from other nissan cars. no mention of how the firewall was converted.

thumper 10-02-2013 07:23 AM

huh. i googled to see if i could still find the ad but found this instead (circa 2007):

Bump...

There are a handful of classified ads for R34 GT-Rs already, but I'm skeptical of their veracity; especially when I haven't even seen a landed one driving around.

Someone local is asking $52K...I think they added a "Paul Walker Premium" on top.
