I'll probably consider an R34 GT-T sedan, but then again the JZX100 Chaser/Mark II are already trickling over. It's a tough call for me since I love both cars.

9000% NSX without a doubt. If anyone is looking for a red 91 with 16k miles, let me know :)

JD35 11-07-2012 10:54 AM

I also can't wait for the S15 spec R, or even the 99 spec Spirit R/Type RZ RX7

J89 11-07-2012 10:59 AM

lol wow time flies, remember the days when everyone was like, ya can't wait for the r34 to be legal in Canada.

I swear that was like 8-10 years ago years ago lol.

kwy 11-07-2012 11:39 AM

Gonna be jellin so hard when I see R34 GTRs rolling around.

tofu1413 11-07-2012 11:51 AM

seeing how the R35 market value is......

R35 pricing should clash with R34 pricing... making the R35 very "affordable" :P

THIS....

Lol... seriously though... will be jellin all over the place...

hk20000 11-07-2012 01:40 PM

Are you jelling?

What are the plans for the DOT headlights and stuff? Can you go to offshore companies and plan with them with a used R34 OEM headlight and make something out of that? I don't know how to get them DOT approved though.

I'm sure that beats the crap out of force fitting some Accord lights like the R32 back then. Some good profit can be had selling just one batch of those imo. Plastic headlights really not worth much and you don't need impeccable quality it's just for the inspection.

TjAlmeida 11-07-2012 01:52 PM

never checked the importing sites, but how much does an s15 fetch. I was figuring 15-20k?

So many amazing cars from Japan will be available. Version 6 STI, evo 6, rx7 spirit r, r34 off the top of my head :fullofwin:

The R34 headlight housing is SAE
if you replace the bulbs to SAE/DOT that helps.
the lens is clear and doesn't alter the beam pattern. So You can technically use them to pass with some shops.
Not all thou, because the beam still points in the RHD fashion. If they check the headlight pattern it will fail.

Great forum to check out for importing RHD vehicles.

I wouldn't mind trading in my Evo X for a R34 GTR! Don't know how I feel about drive throughs though xD

If only the R35 was available in manual, that would have been my dream car :(

Has anyone considered importing early and not registering until 15 years? Perhaps importing when the car is 13.5 years old. The prices of used cars take a plunge until they hit 15 years in Japan so they get imported to the Americas and we can think about bringing them in early before prices rise?

kwy 11-07-2012 04:57 PM

I don't think I'd get into a RHD again for a little while, especially if it's a lowered sports car. Making left turns in my current car is scary enough as it is in Abbotsford..when you can't see over the guy in the opposite left turning lane..

keifun 11-07-2012 04:58 PM

Silvia S15 for me in 2014 plz.:fullofwin:

I've always had a hard-on for that car.

Don't bother, you will be wasting your money and it will never be allowed to be registered or insured.ICBC will also seize it due to it being illegal,if you really want one, just wait it out.

It's not about registering it. Your 13.5year old car is not allow to enter the country at all unless it's for off-road use. Again, once the car is deem for off-road used, it can never be register.

Btw, it's nearly impossible for to legitimately import an off-road use vehicle unless for a private individual.

A, Like C-Unit said, you cannot even get the car off the dock and do the customs paperwork without classifying it as a Off-Road Use only vehicle to have it sit here in Canada for 1.5 years.

B, Canada is the only country in North america Japan can normally export to. We have the 15 year rule, USA has a 25 year rule. We have much more buying power than USA. So we are the only market for them out here, not USA.

Condemning a car with being unable to ever register it ever again never stopped anyone. Case in point, a car that ICBC writes off as "parts only" will have the vin plate swapped from a car that can be registered. I can think of at least one car that is currently like that

More than one...

More than one road going R34 in BC right now too, though there is nothing the feds can do about them. Before they tightened the noose, there were ways to get them through without any modifications.

IIRC.. (approximately)

> Strip R34's in Japan
> Ship the chassis over, not as a car, but as parts of a car (on paper)(missing the vin plates, stamped vin numbers destroyed)
> Register the chassis as a kit car and get it approved by an engineer
> Bring over the parts individually
> Source seperate RB26 (essential)
> Put the car back together
> Insure & drive

People took a lot of risks for grey market cars. The only catch was that they would never be "R34's" again, because of the kit car claim.
