The Official Nissan Skyline R34 Thread

Hello,
Yes its Me. MWR34.

It is November 2012 already, and Starting in June 2013 we Canadians will start seeing R34 GT-T Coupes and Sedans rolling on our streets.

I for one can't wait. (hence my 2007 build of the MWR34 which was stolen back in january 2011)

anyways,

When the R32's first were allowed into canada roughly 2004 the prices were roughly 8-12K for a GTS and 15-20K for a GTR respectively. Being only 15 year old cars and the rarity.

R33's did not have that large of an impact being widely referred to as the ugliest of the three generations. 2008 the R33 GTS came to Canada fetching roughly 8-12K and then later the GTR was allowed to enter in 2010 fetching about the same with the R32 prices, 13-18K respectively... being newer technology, better AWD, AWS, and traction, also heavier.

But this coming summer you will see the R34 GTT's will be fetching roughly 15-20K.(I am referring it the 5 speed Turbo models) other variations can be NA 5spd, NA Auto, Turbo Auto..... as well as Sedans in same specs and the prices will be lower. You will probably see R34 GTT-GTR converted cars or conversion kits soon be available with a completed price of about 4-5g's...
This is all speculation, since nothing is here yet, but there will be a lot more GTT's on the streets soon.
Then the following January/February 2014.. The Real R34 GTR will start to enter. Dont expect them to be cheap. 20k? lol 25K? .... nope. Depending on condition the average model in the 99 build year will be roughly 30-40K as a starting point to bring it over. Even upwards of 60-100K for high spec used Skylines.

I know the internet is written in INK so, mark my words and come back to this thread when time comes. Because I am fairly confident in my calculations as long as the CDN and YEN dollars are not drastically affected.

By the price jump of the GTT compared to the GTR is the reason why I feel there will be alot more GTT or GTT/GTR kits rolling around compared to the real GTR when fully legal.

thanks:)

i was just randomly looking at import sites few weeks ago and sure enough...decent R34 still fetches 35K+...i wont be surprised if Spec V goes for almost double that

SumAznGuy 11-06-2012 08:40 PM

I for one, can't wait till 2014 rolls around.

Funny how most people hate the R33... personally I prefer that one over the 32 and 34.

JSALES 11-06-2012 10:19 PM

I like the R33, I think it's because I loved using that car when I used to play Gran Turismo as a kid :lol

Yodamaster 11-06-2012 10:23 PM

LOTS of money to be made importing them.

Though it will be interesting to see what kind of roadblock ICBC pulls out of their ass to make it harder to register them here.

Skylines do not get off scott-free, you still have to modify them to be legal here.

This isn't the United States. ICBC just see's it as a "SKYLINE", whether its a R32 GTST or R34 GTR. It makes no difference to them.

You need to make a few changes to pass inspection and that's it.
On my R33 GTR it passed easily. Then I just made the changes back to OEM.

Also there should be a good amount of R34 GT-T that will come in, but not so much R34 GTR... due to the fact that after all said and done it will be around $35-40k landed. That's for a basic model with moderate miles. Once you start looking at the lower mileage ones, also the special edition ones... the prices start getting crazier (R35 GTR terrirtory).. like the OP said.

Strongly considering one, a gray one or bayside blue and V-spec would be nice.

^ Lol @last line

Edit: wtf you changed it lol

Everyone will be rollin around in Skylines, i got my eyes set on a S15 spec R :fullofwin:

twitchyzero 11-06-2012 11:46 PM

i know they are completely different car...would you rather choose NA1 NSX LHD or a R34 GT-R if you had $35k?

westopher 11-07-2012 12:17 AM

Depends on the circumstances. If it was my only car I'd say the gtr. I couldn't handle having only 2 seats.

j604 11-07-2012 12:20 AM

^ r34 ! but an NSX would be jst as nice, personal preference i guess

kwy 11-07-2012 12:27 AM

Hey man. Are you still on GTRC? I remember following the build on there. Was a very cool car. Saw it in person once in Abby..

C-unit 11-07-2012 12:31 AM

Can't wait to do a VQ swap in a R34 GTR.

NSX hands down, but to me they are totally different kind of car. NSX is like a supercar and the GT-R is kind of a class of its own, a muscle/supercar killer kinda thing.

GT-R looks like a street brawler ready to start a fight and eat the cars in front any time... the overkill aggressiveness is why I like the older Skylines.

Did you know first gen NSX-R still go for like $80,000? The second gen can easily go over $140,000

kwy 11-07-2012 12:39 AM

NSX would be a good investment.
