Not sure exactly what is broken on your PS3 but if it is yellow light of death (YLOD, on original 60GB) then I would probably just buy a new one. All they'll probably do is re-flow the solder on the motherboard with a heat gun, apply new thermal paste and give it back. You can actually DIY it (youtube it). I've done it a bunch of times but you'll have to redo it in a few months and it'll keep happening more consistently.
I'm not 100% sure what the shop will do tho. They might give you a whole new mobo but will cost probably $100+ but who knows. Best bet is to call them tomorrow and ask what exactly they do to your PS3 to fix it.
yeah it is actually the yellow light. and it's the older model from 4 years ago, not slim.
I guess i'll have to make sure the shop would offer warranty with their work in any case.
you wouldn't know of any repair shops though?
i'm not gonna do it myself, don't have the time plus don't have proper tools.
He's fixed 2 xboxs, and modded other consoles for me. Seems to know what he's doing and doesn't charge all that much. I haven't had any of my Xbox RROD after he's repaired them.
