| Mercedes SLS AMG Black Series!
[Quote]Sleep with one eye open if there's a Mercedes SLS AMG Black Series in your garage. It's a brutal killer. Just look at it. It's an SLS AMG GT3 if the SLS AMG GT3 is being hunted by Interpol.
If there's any consolation, it's that it'll be a quick death.
Power is up from the AMG 6.3-liter V8 to 622 horsepower, an improvement of about 40 over the SLS AMG GT red-lining at 8,000 rpm. Torque? 468 pound-feet of twist. Only the SLS AMG Electric Drive is more powerful, Mercedes notes. But it won't sound this good. Power goes through the DCT 7-speed transmission, beefed up for the extra power. There's also an "Electronically-controlled AMG rear axle differential lock" which we hope mean a Ferrari/Audi-esque mechanical diff with electronic controls and not an e-Diff.
Because it's an AMG product the weight is down to 3,417 pounds (3,000 pounds without the monster motor). All this leads up to a top speed of 196 mph and a 0-60 mph time of 3.5 seconds. Yeah, a GT-R will crush it. But a GT-R doesn't look this good.
You want carbon? We've got carbon fiber aerodynamics. We've got carbon-fiber reinforced plastic and carbon ceramic brakes. The wheels are made of dreams.
So tough. So sexy. It even has a Gurney flap. And… and… and… just look at it.[Quote/] Sls amg black series News, Videos, Reviews and Gossip - Jalopnik
i dont know about the yellow though... but looks pretty bad ass.

Meh i still don't find anything interesting about the SLS...
Its not that pretty
It has the same engine as the lower end AMG cars
Convertible looks like turd
Coupes doors are hard to open in a crowded home depot parking lot
Other models have nicer interiors such as the CLS/SL/S etc
I guess the black series version is pretty cool though, 622hp
Now the SL65 is something that i dream about everyday, Torque vectoring V12

IOnno about you guys but I never seen no SLS at home depot before
From personal experience I wasn't a huge fan of the car until I drove one. Beastly.. Posted via RS Mobile |

^ Just using home depot as an example, i'm sure those doors would get annoying really fast, i would rather have a nice sunroof or even a CF roof with normal doors.
You could probably have similar experience with any of the lower end 6.3 AMG cars.

They are tough to get into, and then you have to reach pretty high to actually pull the door down. I have pretty long arms and I still find that.

| Paying an extra $453895872945 for looks doesn't justify anything, the 200mph barrier isn't even broken with this upgrade!
GT-R please.

I have to agree that, even though the SLS (IMO) looks better than the GTR, if Mercedes is going to release a flagship car that costs 2-3x as much as a GTR, the performance should at least be equal, or else it's just underwhelming.

I dont get why people need to bring the GTR into every single car comparison in the world. They're in different freakin categories.
Ýea we can all agree the GTR is faster, and is cheaper, but does it look as good? Does it sound as good? Is it as rare as the SLS? Is it going to be as fun as the SLS?
Not every supercar has to compete with another, they can be made just to be a supercar. Like i give a care that your GTR can go faster.

Yea, I never understood the appeal of the SLS either. It looks ugly. Grill too wide. Awkward looking headlights. I never liked the look of gullwing doors on any car.
The SLR is far better looking.

I think everyone forgets the purpose of Supercars when they start comparing them to GTR's or to other cars. Their whole reason for existing is to be extreme, unconventional and wild. Not to conform to whatever another company did with theirs or to appease anyone. As for myself I think the SLS is insane, but if I ever had the coin to burn i'd be all over a SL Black, not to take anything away from the SLS though.

Jeremy Clarkson and the guys at Top Gear should do a car entry comparison between the SLS and the Aventador. Which car's doors is easier to open and close, the gullwing on the SLS or the scissor doors on the Aventador?
