I remember reading about this series a few times over the last year. I personally thought it couldn't live up to BSG. Things like it airing on the internet instead of on TV, lots of CGI, no Ron Moore, etc. Then I heard that it got cancelled, which was probably for the better. For whatever reason it got pushed and now it's out.
First impressions of the show are good. One thing I don't like is every scene seems to glow. The lights are abnormally bright and the characters details or features are overpowered by it. It's like those scenes with Baltar and Six in the opera house, everything is bathed in a heavenly glow. I think it's because of the high usage of CGI. Being reminded of how much CGI is used takes away from the realism of the show, the authenticity of each character, and the dialog. BSG was great at keeping that to a minimum.
Kind of weird seeing BSG characters in new roles on this new series. So far, they've used the actors who played Sgt. Hadrian, Kelly, and that one guy who was a Viper pilot on Pegasus. edit, Narcho is his name.
