How much would you pay for an 04 s2000? Like the title says - how much would you pay? Looking at an s2k now and it's listed at $16k. Is this a fair price assuming everything is in good condition? Km's wise it's just over 100k and it's an ex - U.S. car. Looking to possibly make the purchase tomorrow so I'd appreciate any feedback. |
best thing u can do is craigslist 04 s2k's... find the condition and match it up, 100km is normal, but x-us means a drop in price for sure, just because re sale is harder.. my friend just sold his mint s2k for 9g... so go from there |
What year was his? |
History (i.e., accidents, air care, maintenance), title, condition (i.e. mechanical, interior, exterior), color, and number of previous owners? If all those are in check, that is a fair price for an AP2 imo. If you haven't already, there is a very good write-up on S2Ki on what to look for when buying a used S2000. |
but i thought the s2k has a switch that changes from mph to kph. for the speedometer, not sure about the odometer though. just like the civics.............. |

It's more how much would YOU pay. Prices vary, color plays a significant roll, condition, kms. I've seen 04s go for 12, and 22.. A car is worth what someone will pay for it IMO. Right now is the best time to buy though especially if its going to be parked for winter, prices tend to be a bit higher ones the sun is out. Posted via RS Mobile |
Just got some new insight on the car thanks to rizo. Apparently it's had a $6k accident. I would pay 13 for it but my concern is resale value a few years down the line. I wouldn't want to lose much of if any of that 13k. |
with a 6k hit the best thing u can do it go on a lengthy test drive, make sure to drive over some train tracks/bumpy road get to hwy speed at some point in the test drive, main reason is to see if everythings been fixed good, you may hear/feel shit wrong when going over bumpy road or train tracks and feel the cars stability on hwy ei. vibration, or pull under accelerating, cruise and decel last thing u want is this mint s2k that wants to kill you on the hwy |
I would give the following ratings; 6/10 exterior (dents/scratches/chips on body esp. front bumper. cracked windshield) 8/10 interior (seats are in decent shape, steering wheel leather isn't too worn out) 7/10 mechanically (some squeaks and minor veering to right side - may have been due to poor road conditions) The soft top is in decent shape and it's basically stock besides the exhaust. It's a decent S2000, but in my opinion I passed because I lacked confidence in the seller. Initially the accident was quoted as $3700 worth of repair. After I asked for the vin, he told me the damage total may have been around $5000-$6000. Regardless of what price he offered, I chose not to make the purchase based on his dishonesty. Like I told you through PM, disregard what the seller claims and make sure you bring the car for a PPI and leak/compression test before you make any commitments. |

Do a compression test for sure. It might not be worth 16k based on rizo's description. |
