options might have updated since though. | When you configure a truck using the calculator: Long box - dually; regular box - single. I think it's a glitch in the site...
A long box is always nice to have. A dually is definitely only nice to have when you're towing. Quote:

I'm not a brand loyalist. I'd like a cummins engine with allison transmission scaled down to a 4L and put into maybe a toyota body. | The 7.3 wasn't great either, but granted, neither were the GM diesels from that era.
Grumman Vans used to come with a 4BT Cummins and an Allison Trans.... someone just needs to give that to us in a light truck body

What are you talking about? The 7.3 was a fantastic engine.

Op, be patient. Wait a couple years. If you need a light duty with the torque of a diesel to pull some things then I believe for 2014 ish dodge is FINALLY coming out with a 1500 diesel. Google it.
It may be worth the wait for your needs. Posted via RS Mobile |

Having been screwed in the past by GM's horrible manufacturing consistency, and then being subjected to Dodge's use of plastic and pot metal in their drivetrain parts, I went with the Tundra and never looked back.
I'm not going to shit on the domestic trucks. All I will say is hit up Dale's Alignment in Surrey and see what's on the hoists getting new brake, steering and suspension parts. Look at how small the F150 brakes and suspension wear items are. Look at the leaky power steering racks on the GM's, and the questionable recalls coming from Dodge. Then make your decision.

OP never came back to tell us how much weight he planned on towing.
A lot of the discussions here about an HD truck is silly because if he is towing a sub 2500# racecar on a simple open deck trailer with electric brakes to Mission, all he needs is a vehicle capable of towing 5000 lbs, a proper hitch and an electic brake controller.
If he planned on taking a 40ft car trailer with dual car/lift and living quarters to the US, then a Dodge Dually might not have enough brakes.

Ram, hands down, most aggressive looking pick up.
BTW, mods to my buddies truck are flares, 35s, rockstar 20s, 6" suspension lift, and he MIGHT have some spacers in there still, cant remember.
Mine is bone stock minus exhaust and Bilstein shocks (2.8" lift up front) and a 1" spacer in the rear.

Top Gear dedicated an episode to it.
