| Most inexpensive car with OEM HID's?
I'm looking to buy a new car but an absolute must is HID's. I'm not looking to buy a kit to upgrade it to HID's just to be clear.
So what is the most inexpensive car out there that has HID either standard or as a option?
I tried googling it but all results are from 2010 and are US spec.
TIA.

You do know that aftermarket HIDs cost a fraction of what manufacturers charge on HID lighting packages right? |

Most aftermarket packages also don't come with the projectors and are just HID's in the reflector housings.
It's a deal breaker for me as well :|

same here, its almost a deal breaker for me.
i wanted the vw golf (non gti) and that was one of the things i just couldnt look past.
the difference is just so huge im surprised its not standard on more cars, especially in the 25k+ range.
highline tdi golf costs 35k after tax, should definitely have that option!

If the stock housing has projector. You can just change the bulb to hid. Seems stupid to not buy a car because of a $60 hid kit.
Back on topic. I got a 2013 Smart car and just put in hid onto the stock projector housing and its way better then my civic with just a hid kit. Posted via RS Mobile |

Why not retrofit? You could get much better lighting if you can afford to pay for it.

Dont think for a second HID's are the end all and be all of lighting. Test drive some cars at night and keep your markets open.
My Subie Outback has some of the clearest nicest lighting I've ever encountered and they are projector halogens. Dont get me wrong I'm not saying they wouldnt be better if they were HID but I am saying they are worlds better then some factory HIDs I've encountered.

just get anything with projectors as stock (ie. 7th gen celica 99-06, last gen integras or even subaru impreza 08+) and slap a HID kit on it and call it a day. Just make sure you dont get retarded colors like 7000K or higher

Get yourself a set of Ring Xenon Ultimas and call it a day. I gawk at people who install those blue-coated bulbs in their cars and complain about the intensity. "HID colour temperature" biggest joke on ever, a very successful marketing gimmick as well.
Honestly, I've driven an E90 with HIDs and non-HIDs with non-blue tinted upgraded bulbs, and I don't think I'd be willing to spend an extra $2,000 for an HID package. The difference doesn't justify the cost.
Or just move to Japan, where even the cheapest entry-level econoboxes come with HIDs |

If you really want "stock" HIDs, couldn't you just buy a base Mazda3, and then buy factory HID parts seperately?
...but yes, it's bad reason for getting a car...like buying a plane ticket to eat peanuts (or pretzels or whatever they serve these days..)

Posted via RS Mobile | This is interesting idea which I want to get more clarification on. If it's as simple as swapping a a halogen bulb with an HID bulb on projector headlight why don't car companies just include them and market them as HID headlights?
Would there be any downside in swapping the bulbs with HID on the lighting system or electricals on the car provided that they are meant for halogens?
I think I will be open to test driving some cars with projector halogens if they rival the performance of some OEM HID headlights. Thanks for the suggestions guys!

Thanks for the suggestions guys! | Take a look at this article, it should answer all your questions regarding retrofits. HID projector information from The Retrofit Source Inc
And yes, it's possible to simply put a plug-and-play HID bulb into a standard projector beam housing. I'm not sure you understand the difference between HID and halogen. Quote:
HID, High Intensity Discharge, (also known as Xenon) refers to lighting technology that relies on an electrical charge to ignite xenon gas in sealed bulbs, similar to the lightning phenomenon in the sky. HID lighting does not have a filament but instead creates light by igniting an electrical discharge between two electrodes in an air tight tiny quartz capsule filled with xenon gas.
| This is a standard H4 halogen bulb which can be used in projectors and standard reflector headlights.
This is an H4 HID bulb, which can also be used in projectors and standard reflector headlights (but frowned upon as it produces ridiculous glare if the bulbs are poorly aimed creating a lousy cut-off)
Automakers don't install HIDs on all cars because primarily, there is no need. Secondly, see it from a cost perspective, the price of a standard halogen and a standard HID is very different.
Projector beam headlights are a type of headlight, not referring to the actual bulb. Please do not get HID bulbs and projector beam headlights mixed up.
The standard halogen reflectors are the most commonly used type of headlight.
If you purchase an HID system that is plug-and-play, simply swap out the standard halogens with the HID bulb, attach your ballasts and hook it up directly to your battery. I have never owned a car with HIDs and I don't plan on upgrading to HIDs anytime soon, unless I purchase a vehicle that already has built-in HIDs, so I hope another individual with more experience can help you out.
With all due respect, having a lack of HIDs be a deal breaker when purchasing a car is simply silly, in my opinion. There are so many significantly more cost-effective ways to retrofit/install HIDs into a vehicle without HIDs from factory. If you're afraid of shoddy aftermarket quality, invest in an OEM-spec HID kit (Philips, Bosch, etc.) and get it professionally installed by the dealership.

Why don't you start by telling us what your budget and other requirements are, so we can suggest what's good and has HID's or can be properly retrofitted.
