The thing about android phones is that you have a LOT of freedom, and I mean a LOT. Which is why I'll never support a company like apple. It's not hard to learn to root and mod your phone to your liking with a bit of research which makes you able to completely customize your android to your liking. With the s4, it is almost impossible to brick your phone unless you are a complete idiot (knock on wood though hehe)
Anyways here are some tips to make your phone extremely fast. I had some help in this thread so now I want to give back.
1. Root your phone first (this part is very very easy, canadian models have probably the easiest way to root there phones)
2. I advise everyone to learn how to flash there roms. I thought this was hard at first to, but again its VERY easy. Just download Rom manager after you root your phone. Everything else should be common sense or read a couple threads back for instructions. Choose a rom from the xda forums. I personally love roms that are debloated and is optimized for speed and battery.
3. After you choose your rom flash a kernel. The BEST one right now is ausdism kernel. Has the best battery life and speed optimizations. Look it up on xda forums again.
4. To further lower your lag, or TOTALLY get rid of it, and make your phone the fastest phone in the world, download a different launcher, SPECIFICALLY NOVA as I think its the only one that has the option to change the speed animations. Look and feel > scroll speed and animatino speed > put it to "faster than light" Oh and make sure to put no animation like I said earlier in developer options instead of .5
You now have the fastest and lag free phone on the internet. Doing these settings my phone is completely lag free. All my friends are amazed at how my s4 is 1000000X faster then there s4. It's not even a contest. It's even more faster then my gf's iphone5.
I've also managed to get my battery life to 6+ hours screen time with 1day15hours in total. Pretty amazing if you ask me.
I much prefer TW roms now as the GE roms are pretty unstable as it's still based off TW. You also lose a shit ton of features. I will have to try again with 4.3 though, hopefully they will optimize it more and some develeopers create a godly rom for it. As it looks like right now 4.3 seems to be pretty good. The leak is terrible though. TW has the best features IMO, so just make sure to get a debloated one.
Another thing someone said they wanted the TW camera for GE. I think there is a mod for that somewhere on XDA. Nevertheless I think the GE camera is way better. | Does ausdim's kernel allow you to change the colors? One reason I stick with using Ktoon's kernel is that is has trinity colors option which allows me to make the colors more 'colder' (whites are more like a brand new white t-shirt than a white t-shirt that has been worn many times, haha). I don't like Samsung's factory settings cuz it makes the screen more warm and 'yellowish'.

One of the reasons why I prefer TW is the feature to change the display to "movie" mode. Which is considered to be the best display setting for the s4, has the most accurate colors.

And also what's the significant differences between sgh-i337m and the gt-i9505? Could I install wanam lite for gt-i9505 on a sgh-i337? Or would you have to find an appropriate ROM for sgh-i337m? Posted via RS Mobile |

This phone seems like a huge battery hog. Posted via RS Mobile | Nope. Something is causing wakelocks that is preventing your phone from deep sleep. I only lose 1-4% on my phone overnight.

Seems like a common problem. | Was it an AData card?
I have a 32GB AData card and it died after 3 weeks in my S4. I know of a few other people who had their AData cards die in a short period of time too. All different kinds of Samsung phones.
I didn't have any problems with my other cards in the S4.

yup i got the same problem with Adata card. Went thru 4 of those. Waste of money. Now my 32GB patriot one died like 3 weeks ago and i didnt't even store anything big in there beside a couple of pictures i took. Not gonna bother putting another microSD card. If you go into gallery and notice lag or some pictures not loading then you know your card is dieing. Back them up ASAP if you encounter this problem.
PS: Not sure if it's faulty microSD but my previous dead card is when i'm still using my galaxy S2.

My friend warned me about the problem after I mentioned I picked one up. It's a good thing I didn't trust the AData microSD card with pictures.
Dropbox with auto upload saved all my pictures. Good thing the S4 comes with the 48GB bonus.

There was a thread about Copy earlier.

I had issues using the ROM you guys posted. My phone would just stay at the google boot screen with the 4 circles coming together and would vibrate and reboot. This rom worked for me i thought i would paste it since ive had no problems so far and it worked right away. Android-4.3-I9505GUEUBMFP-Deodexed-I9505.zip | by 1337RYoN for Galaxy S4 |

Also if your using the 4.3 Google ROM which doesnt have air gesture, here is a app you can use to get them back. just go to the link on your galaxy s4 browser download the apk to your phone and install. make sure to open the app after and configure it. [APP][2.2+][v1.2.9] Hovering Controls (emulates Air Gesture from S4) - xda-developers |
