never went private before so i have a few questions. do you just go to an insurance agency and get basic insurance for say 2m liability and then ride over to cassells and then get the comprehension package? or does cassells do everything for you?

you can buy 1 mil, or 2 mil and ride down there.
I think cassels require you to have 5 mil before getting beacon. They will adjust your liability there.

How does the coverage of Megson Fits compare to Beacon? I did an online quote and Megson is 50% cheaper than what Beacon quoted me over the phone...

I haven't compared the two, I've never had a claim, I'm sure there comparable. Pay for the year and your covered for fire/theft/Vand well the bike sits (if you don't ride all year). I insure over the phone, they mail me the papers really easy. I've had my class 5 for 14 years not sure if that makes a difference in rates or not.

A variety of deductible options
One claim forgiveness (no rating penalty)
Emergency roadside assistance up to a maximum of $100 per occurrence, with no deductible

The Motorcycle policy includes:

Travel Protection when travelling outside your city of residence
$500 additional living expenses in the event of loss or damage from an insured peril
$1500 to bring a damaged or recovered stolen vehicle back home
$1500 of travel expenses to return home
$500 replacement vehicle expenses
Lock re-keying- if keys are stolen, with no deductible
The policy coverage will extend to trailers towed by your motorcycle and attached accessories, provided they are included in the declared value
Up to $1000 of riding gear coverage is included (additional limits available upon request)

what coverage you want and what is your driving record? those will play heavily on how much you pay, but for a 250, its relatively cheap.

it's summer guys time to re-insure your bikes if you haven't already!

On a side note, my friend just got his class 6 motorcycles license and he's buying a Kawasaki Ninja 300ABS, with class 5 drivers, he has never gotten ticket or been in any accidents. I'm not too sure what he's looking for in insurance, but I'm going to assume collision and the basics. How much do you guys think he'll be paying?

I just got quoted from ICBC fully covered with 2 mil for $130 for a '05 Husaberg FE650E. I believe I have a 30% discount, but will only have an L for the bike. Not sure if anyone on the island will do Beacon?

I'm guessing you could save $250-400 a year changing your optional coverage to private.
