I think the ZDX and G37x is two different class cars, so I don't know how comparable it would be. I know that my friend has a G37x and he drives it in the winter with snow tires and it functions just as well as my gf's Tiguan w/ winter tires. As long as you invest in the right tires, you should be fine with either or...only thing that's different in terms of functionality is the luggage space.

I'd go with ZDX cause its an Acura and thats the two options you are giving me...but if you are considering those two cars, i'd rather go MDX or A4 maybe?

mos_skeeto 12-18-2012 09:18 AM

Hi. Can you define how north because under-car clearance might be an issue especially with the G. When I was at Prince George last I noticed everyone has an SUV or truck.

snails 12-18-2012 09:23 AM

skyrim.... just fast travel north if you have too!

but like posted above, g37 is a low factory ride height, clearance will be an issue if you are traveling far north

mj_39 12-18-2012 09:26 AM

These 2 vehicles can't be compared amongst one another. However if I was to choose id go with the g37x, I have heard it is more then capable to handle most conditions and would be wayyy more fun to drive come the summer months. Now if you want come thing larger and different(very personal as the zdx has not grown on me one bit) then get the zdx

YOLO. g37x :fullofwin:

ZDX has been out since 2007 and hasn't really impressed me yet. Styling is just ok.

I have an 09 G37X with low kms in mint condition for sale. PM me if interested :)

ZDX back seat is awful and the rear doors are also way too big. I test drove it before, it's nice inside and definitely feels sportier than the Venza but I wouldn't pay close to 60k for it. I got the sense that the ZDX has a huge footprint while not offering much practicality or interior volume. With either option you can expect some horrendous fuel economy but I'm guessing you can write that off. If I had to choose though it'd be G37

Personally I would look at some more practical crossover options, and more towards the german manufacturers. Dare I even recommend taking a look at Cadillac? I recently drove a CTS and felt the car was perfect aside from a dull transmission, they are offering huge year end discounts right now.

of those two choices, I would get g37x. Looks so much nicer! Personally I would get awd plus manual. Gotta have manual!

if you were going for a ZDX for up North you should consider something from Land Rover instead

Evoque if you wanted the same mini-suv styling

or more practically the LR4 :) (im a big fan of the lr4 like it more than the rover)

i dont think there are land rover dealerships north of the lower mainland. so depending on how far north hes going he might have trouble servicing the vehicle or getting parts to repair it. (land rover dealership - Google Maps)

might be better off with something else.

if OP is staying up north i'd suggest he get something thats body on frame, 4x4 and has dealerships available up north that can maintain and service his vehicle.

Get the ZDX....i fckin love the styling and the uniqueness....just looks so mean. I dont give a shit if my rear passengers have no headroom as long as im the one driving.

I never liked infiniti or Nissan so i cant help you there.

artmotion 12-18-2012 12:40 PM

Personally I'm not a huge fan of the ZDX but to each their own. Have you considered a Lexus RX350? I know it's boring as a loaf of bread but my parents have one and man is it ever comfortable. Starts at 44k too!

Sky_High 12-18-2012 12:42 PM

:lawl:

Did I read that right? ZDX?? People actually buy (or even consider) that spaceship???
I'm surprise Acura still haven't discontinue tht car...

looks like a juke.

I would go with the Acura just because of its SH-AWD. With a system that can move the torque from wheel to wheel you will be set for any snow. With proper winter tires of course.

Just saying why not an MDX? It still handles pretty nicely but you get practical back seat aswell.

G37x doesnt even compete with those SUV's if you want the Acura competitor of that it would be the TL SH-AWD.

I know they aren't in the same class but these are the two vehicles that I like.
I don't go up north to work, just visit friends and family. I am worried about the low clearance of the G37x. But, I can get Zdx for a great deal and I really like the uniqueness factor. I wish I could buy the X6 but I cant afford it so I settle with Zdx, and Acura always makes quality vehicles.

mos_skeeto 12-18-2012 01:30 PM

The ZDX looks like a pain in the arse to park.

vyrospec 12-18-2012 01:30 PM

IMO, if your debating between ZDX and G37x have you thought about EX37? which is basically a G37 with higher clearance.

ZDX has been out since 2010.

The current G has been out since 2006. The new one is debuting in january at the detroit auto show and will be available next year as a 2014. Might as well wait.

You mean 2008.

THORISHERE 12-18-2012 02:29 PM

I really like both cars but for your needs I would take the ZDX.

ZDX has awesome styling inside and out, SH-AWD, and has high ground clearance which is essential for snowy conditions.

G37x has more headroom in the back (does it really matter?), the big plus is that it will be a lot more fun to drive in the summer.

no i dont.

the V36 chassis came out in 2006 as 2007 model. If you want to get technical G37x model came out as 2009 model year.
