People gets so paranoid about our non existent winters.
And for good reason. The second it rains or snows in Richmond, what little driving skill there is COMPLETELY deminishes. If there is ever snow, I use the bus to get to work Posted via RS Mobile
I've lived here for 3 years now and I'm still waiting for this "winter" everyone seems to keep talking about. I'd love something for shred trips, but also care about my safety more than my car, and what I can afford for a winter vehicle would definitely not be safer being that it would be some little shitbox 88 Jetta or something. As for the city, we might see snow once. I'll take the bus that day.
How did your GTI fare in the winter (on all seasons)? I'm still trying to decide if it's worth it for me to shell out ~$800 for steelies and 16" snow tires if I'm likely not headed up to the slopes this season.

In 12 years of driving I've only had all seasons like 3-4 months total. Basically right after I have bought cars the first thing I do is buy suspension and wheels/tires. My gti was always on winters when it was driven in winter and it was incredible. Here is a photo after a 2500km trip to alberta and back over christmas. 3.5+ inches lower than stock with no issues on winters. This car also took me through plenty of whistler and baker trips with no issues.

Does everyone forget just 5 years ago the rough winter we had? It was, if i recall, 3 or 4 feet of snow in a week. However, it's not the snow that causes the danger, it's the black ice that wreaks havoc. It can snow a cm and the ice will cause all the accidents.

Sorry, but common driving skills has already been rare in Richmond for the past decade
The winters vancouver get is not about the snow. It's about the humidity and the black ice on the road. You guys saying these non existent winters and shit are all talk until one of you hit some ice and kiss a curb.
It's supposed to hit -30 for a low this week where I'm at, but it just isn't the same here, obviously the roads are dangerous at any sub zero temp but I have not seen the same sort of black ice vancouver gets.

... Knock on wood. Posted via RS Mobile
If you grew up driving in ice and snow, really it isn't shit man. Every year I can remember driving in edmonton it would rain and drop to -15/20 in less than 8 hours. That got fucking gnarly. I remember skating to work one day. It was bumpy and shitty, but my skates didn't touch concrete once. There isn't some "special" brand of ice here in Vancouver that the rest of the world doesn't have. Roads are slippery when they get frosty. Drive safe and hopefully those around you will do the same.

Air bags are becoming more and more popular, if you're not racing it's very convenient. Slam while parked and raise it to an appropriate daily height for driving. Posted via RS Mobile
Most companies run a few levels of airbag systems. From frame laying hard Parker's to full blown track set ups. Remi has the track package system in his 5.0 and says its a big
Improvement over the oem "track package" which is a bit soft from factory

Ford is honestly killing it lately. I never thought I'd want a mustang newer than early 70's but the new gen of stangs not only look great, it sounds like they drive great as well.
