Where to Donate Furniture?

We are renovating a room in my parents house and there is a sectional with a love seat, hide a bed and recliner that we want to get rid of. I tried craigslist but I got no bites. So I was wondering if there are any companies that can come and take the couch and donate it to a needy family.

Thanks for any help.

It actually pretty hard to donate furniture.

Thrifts stores will usually only take like-new or almost-new modern pieces. Also, the majority of places won't take anything for fear of bedbugs.

If you live in Burnaby, the city will come and pick it up and take it to the dump for free.

Other than that, your only hope is the free section on CL.

Salvation army or The Thirft Store will take donations. Please call to confirm.

As dino said, those places may be wary of any furniture that has a higher suspect to bed bugs (mattresses, sofas - any furniture piece with cotton in it)

fsy check Habitat For Humanity. I believe they are down on Kent Dr. somewhere, we donated a bunch of stuff to them before. Just call ahead though, but I'm pretty sure they will be okay with it.

Salvation army takes furniture but you have to drop it off. Better results are had by attatch couch to behind your vehicle, getting a video camera, lighting couch on fire, then riding it down the street towed behind aforementioned vehicle while video taping. Epic results.

it's even harder if you have glass furniture. places that do accept furniture won't consider glass. i guess it's too easy for something to get smashed and have broken glass everywhere.

i work in the DTES and i'll gladly take used desks, dressers, single mattresses, single boxsprings and frames (if you are located in vancouver or can deliver into the vancouver area)

wrags takes beds, you would have to contact them
sofas are a little too big for the rooms i have (100 sq ft).

like the previous post, i can not take anything that has glass

so if you have any used furniture let me know!
