| Autopilot
I don't know if this is the right place to post but I'm sure you guys have seen autopilot on youtube and all...and they say it's way more intelligent and safer than human driving. It can avoid accidents and make safer decision in less than 0.1 second.
You can even download an app for your smartphone so that you can call your car like a cab.
When you arrive at the destination, like grocery store for example, it will automatically go park by itself and when you're done, it will come get you.
I didn't know that the technology nowadays is so advanced.
Anyways my question is, is it legal in BC? I guess not yet? But I'm guessing it's just a matter of time.
Apparently autopilot is already legal in California, Florida, etc..and other states are considering making it legal.
But I wonder what would happen when it hits other cars or people?
Will you be responsible? I'm just curious. |

The only way the technology will be accepted is if everything was recorded on video to prove it was the human driver at fault.

Nissan president Carlos Ghosn was having an interview too. I saw his video and he said he believes that this technology should decrease the numbers of cars on the road and it's good for car sharing.
So mom goes to work, the car will go home by itself, then it will pick up a son to take him to school, and from there, it will go to where husband is to go buy computer, etc...
hmm so I guess it's gonna have a blackbox or something to show who was driving.

To give us all a better perspective of what the OP is talking about Quote:
Autonomous cars are impressive displays of in-car technology, but what exactly would the benefit of such systems be for the average driver? Audi has answered that question by showing off its Piloted Parking system for the Audi Connect at CES 2013.
Installed on this Audi A7, Piloted Parking allows a driver to drop themselves off and have the car autonomously drive away on its own and find its own parking spot. The car can then later be retrieved by "calling" it back with a specially designed smartphone app. We'd be lying if we said this didn't bring back memories of Michael Knight summoning KITT with his wristwatch. The most impressive part of this car might be the fact that the car is fully autonomous but doesn't have any obvious sensors or monitors on the exterior of the car like many other self-driving cars have.

watch the car park in a loading zone/handicap zone/taxi zone/bus stop :P
try to call it an hour later and its stuck in an impound yard
but seeing how slow it drives once the girl got out...id kinda be pissed if i got stuck behind that car doing 1/2 a kmph in an underground parking lot while it searches for a spot. Quote:

| in that case, fuck taxi's! get dropped off dt and have the car pick me up when im drunk and let it return home while it drives itself, i'll be passed out on the back seats.

it works well until someone runs the auto pilot car over when the car is trying to be at number 3 road in richmond. how is hte pilot car going to move itself out of the road?
how does it figure out what to do when the car hits a bystander; does it continue to route?
