| Motherboard not Detecting HDMI
I have a P5G41T-M ASUS Motherboard
It has a HDMI slot , ASUS - Motherboards- ASUS P5G41T-M
And ive connected the HDMI cable into the HDMI slot on my Desktop and its also plugged into my TV.
However my computer does not detect this HDMI cable,
I am also aware if I get a DVI HDMI adapter it could possibly work because I am using a Nvidia Geforce GT8800 Graphics Card
But I want to see if its possible to use the HDMI cable from the desktop rather then buying the adapter and plugging it into my gfx card secondary display slot

If you have a graphics card plugged onto your motherboard, you are not able to use any of your motherboard display slots.

Before you do that, did you test other hdmi cables to see if that works?
I had a lot of problems getting my hdmi to work before. The reason being is that my video card has a weird little mini-hdmi connector thing which goes to the normal hdmi connection and was unable to get a good connection.
Anyways, you can get DVI to HDMI or any other from ncix for about $10. I bought cheap n-gear ones and they work great. http://ncix.com/products/index.php?m...minorcatid=231

Yeah I was going to go to NCIX, but it was closed when I already found out what I needed to get this to work so I just ordered it off ebay. Dont mind the 11-12 days wait Quote:

Bump, recieved my hdmi cable from EBAY + dvi to hdmi adapater converter, I can make my image go onto the TV now, however those no sound, and every few minutes it makes a LOUD POPPING / SCRATCHING sound then the connection is lost for a brief second then back up again..
Like a shock is occuring to the TV " yes volume was off too " and it still made this sound

You need a separate cable for the audio. The type of cable depends on what's available from your computer and on your TV. I used to use an optical cable.
No idea why you are experiencing the popping noise. Can you pinpoint where the noise is coming from if not from your speakers? Posted via RS Mobile |

Posted via RS Mobile | Actually, it would be because the graphics card is too old to support audio on the HDMI output. If you get a newer card with a regular HDMI slot (or one of those convertible ones) you would be able to output sound to the TV. I have done with AMD cards and with nVidia cards so it is doable.
For the popping noise... where is it coming from? Are the screws to hold the cable in fully tight?

Thanks for the replies,
Yes my gfx card is from 2008, another member on the forum pm'd me and told me I need a 2.5mm audio spiiltter which will give me 2 slots into my Desktop, one for speakers on the computer and one for the cable going to the TV, but cannot find a long enough 2.5mm cable on ebay..
The popping noise comes from the back of the TV " behind " where they made little slivers of slots and it sounds electrical related popping kind of noises

If you plan to only watch videos on your TV or surf the web, then just use the onboard graphics/HDMI instead of your video card.
Then when you want to go back to your monitor or game or whatever, just revert back to the 8800GT.
Probably the easiest solution without having to buy anything new.
