i test drove the CLA250 4Matic today, not a bad car at all. The only things i dislike about the car is basically the gear selection stalk, it's not a traditional gear lever sticking out of the middle. Also the Parking brake needs getting used to. Other than that, the car is pretty peppy. In Vancouver you don't really need such fast of a car anyways, but there is never enough HP haha.
Rear seats are actually not bad, i'm like 5'10 and i have room sitting behind my driving position. The price of the car is pretty steep. If i would choose, i'd just buy a MK7 GTI over the CLA 250 even though the CLA is more posh.
The waiting time for a CLA45 is 8 months, sucks big time...
may i ask which dealership you placed your deposit down at ?
i might be planning to put a deposit down but there is so many more different cars to choose from.
i did my deposit at the terminal mb. doesn't hurt to do a deposit now coz you don't even have to confirm anything for another like 3 months.. and it's refundable so might as well get in line now.
still debating whether i should get the NSP and the HK audio.
i'm leaning towards the NSP and most likely going to get it.
i think the NSP is a no brainer.. it includes the window tint and the black exterior trims which will probably cost me about the same if i wanted to paint the stock silver front spoiler anyways. i want to get the full package now rather than regretting and wanting to add it later.. spend less for half a year.. good to go
I'm most likely just going to add a rear spoiler, i probably wont even lower the car cause roads here in vancity sucks and i live in a neighborhood where there's tons of speedbumps. If i lowered the car or even added a body kit/lip, i would just scrape for days.
argh seeing a kit like that in black makes me think about my color choice again black white or mountain grey.. or even wrap it in matte white or black ~~ oh well still another couple months to decide
hey terkan, i forgot to ask the guys down at MB vancouver yesterday but what is the current waitlist like as of right now ?
what # are you on the waitlist ?
i actually have no clue what number i am on the waitlist however i did send my sa an email asking. i saw on the computer there were 4 ppl ordered? but then again i might be reading it wrong coz i have no idea what i was looking at lol
i just went yesterday, talked to Amir (previously bought a car from him before, very nice guy) and he said there were about 5 or 6 people on waitlist :O

5 or 6 i don't think is that bad considering it's a bigger dealership so they hopefully have better allocation.. so if they get 1 per month let say that's not too bad
Read this recently on Jalopnik and the Consumer Reports review
The short version:
Quote:
The Mercedes CLA is a really hot seller these days, and lukewarm reviews haven't really dampened that. The sensible people at Consumer Reports, however, think you should buy cars that aren't the CLA for $35,000. Because they really didn't like the little Benz very much.
Consumer Reports testers gave their two cents on the CLA250 and the news isn't good. It's terrible, in fact.
If you think CR's testers only drive Toyota Camrys or something need to look at this. Because these people say an Acura TSX wagon and what's basically a Jalopnik-edition BMW 320i are among the cars you should buy instead of a CLA. A used Audi A4 was probably the most mainstream option.
We've driven the CLA45 AMG, and while it's fast it has still has some notable flaws and a hefty price tag. Calling it a "really nice Civic" sounds a tad harsh, though. But it's absolutely amazing we're living in an age where a Mercedes and a Buick Regal cost roughly the same money – and now the Regal is apparently the better car.
Haha consumer reports is a joke. I honestly believe it's what other people want and like to have. It's not like i come from a lamborghini aventador to a CLA45 and obviously go like "this car is crap because it sucks at handling and it's slow as hell." Obviously if that was the case, the only reason i would've said that was because i came from an aventador. But if i came from a civic and went to a cla45 or even a cla250 then i would most likely be really happy to own a cla250(some people are picky and may dislike the car). In every aspect, the car is more expensive and somewhat more well built (materials, handling, and ride).
Not everyone is a race car driver and not everyone has the same needs. Needless to say I don't dislike the article and the "really nice Civic" statement just because it's subjective. The author of the article can say whatever the heck he wants but at the end of the day, I will ultimately be the one who is happy because i love driving the car I own and will be the one who will appreciate the beauty of the car.
@terkan
Ah, I don't know man ... 5 - 6 people, 1 car per month... Apparently they sometimes don't get allocations, but I will be placing a deposit soon (2 - 3 days) i hope i can get the car much much sooner. If they actually do get 1 allocation or even possibly 2 per month, then that would be awesome.
At the end of the day, cla45 is a car I liked. What other people think doesn't really matter to me. It's my money after all. Sure they can call the cla 45 a really nice civic. Which civic out there is an awd with a 355hp 2.0L turbo engine? So I dunno how that statement works. So they are saying it's a civic with a mercedes body on it? Which part of the car is even comparable?
