Personally, a tastefully modded car loses some of its coolness factor if it only has 2 pedals.
Probably has to do with the fact that the slushbox versions of both my past car(08 Accord Coupe V6) and my current car(09 RX-8) are very disappointing compared to the manual versions. I understand that some 2-pedal are faster than 3-pedal nowadays, but really, how many people buy AT cars because they are faster, not because they can't drive a stick?
It's just hard for me to really like CVT. Yeah, it can do nice MPG and optimize every RPM and speed combination, but if I feel sleepy and bored in a stepped AT already, I think I will need 2 big cups of coffee in the cup holder to stay awake in a CVT.
Now for something different, let's look at some buyers.
So I have got this one a couple of months ago when I was selling a 1999 Corolla. It was old, but it runs well, and I was listing it for the price I bought it for, which is fair for an 18-year-old car. I listed CAN$1200 for it.
Then this clown sent me this gem.
I then politely said no low-balling, and he replied this.
I have no idea. Like seriously, 300 dollars net you a car that's not working. I sold the car later for 1100 bucks to a nice fellow that also likes manual shift a lot.
lol i don't even bother replying to lowballs anymore

Gosh... I hate dealing with ridiculous lowballers.
I've had a dealership offer me $4k on a trade in. Accounting for the money saved from taxes, that's worth ~$4.5k. So I listed my car for $6.5k, expecting some room to negotiate. And this guy has the guts to tell me via email that he'll give me $2k cash and take the car right away.
Yeah fxxking right...
Ended up trading the car in (at $4k) because I didn't want to bother with these fxxkers anymore...
I recall seeing a modded WRX outside a Timmies once. Looked inside, PRND(Those are CVT, right?). Nice job, you just wasted a bunch of money on an automatic car.
this may hit home a little harder than for other people since I drive a cvt wrx lol (knowing my luck it was probably mine you judged!)
BUT, just because I have a bunk left knee and can't daily drive manual transmissions means I have to be happy with the way my car comes from the factory? i'm not allowed to make it look how I want it to look, or make it faster than how it originally was, or handle better?
sure, if your goal is to build the fastest car on the streets/track then I definitely see the point. But to say that it's unworthy just because of the transmission is kind of silly.

Of course there are exceptions, like in your case. Sorry I am a bit biased. Just got no love for AT nowadays.

I raced my automatic corolla at AutoX, people wondered why would I bring a AT to autox. My main goal was just to learn how to be a better driver and the corolla was the only vehicle I had and could afford. I'm sure some of the novice drivers snickered at first.. But when I was beating their time not including PAX, I think they realized it really wasn't about what car you drove, but how you drive it.

Autocross is meant for anyone with any car, so I wouldn't laugh at anyone with a cheaper car. If you can drive it well, great job!
Selling iconic 1985 Hyundai Pony with automatic. Well preserved and everything is original.
Hyundai Pony is sold in Korea for $20000 ~$60000 as it is an iconic vehicle for Korean automobile history. Also demand for Hyundai Pony in the movie industries are huge but there aren't many available anymore. Thus the value of Hyundai Pony will get sky rocketing over years. Buy it for investment, I unfortunately have to sell it due to moving.
Call it what you want. A unicorn. A barn find. In reality, this is a living room find. That is no exaggeration. this 1997 Nissan 240SX named "Midnight" has been so meticulously cared for, the 1 and only owner literally pulled this car in to his sisters living room, in her house to avoid the cold New York winters, on specially custom ramps made out of old airplane wings. With only 675 miles, you will never find a more loved and cherished 240SX, ever! The question most people have, is why? We asked the owner to tell us why he took such extreme care of such an odd car. In his own words he sent us this: THE STORY OF MIDNIGHT
"I had waited for two months for my new 200sx to be delivered. Having finally received the call to pick it up from the dealer, I picked the car up and on the way home, found the car would not idle correctly when I came to a stop. I was not happy. Immediately I turned around and brought it back. This was the first service, of four to follow, to remedy this problem. However after five attempts with the service department, it was time to "Lemon Law" the car.
I wound up in court with four of Nissan's finest lawyers to prevent me from winning since this would cause them to stop saying in their ads, "A Nissan vehicle has never been Lemon Lawed". Well, fortunately I won my case and they had to change all their ads, and now offer me a new car. I upgraded and ordered a new 240sx instead of another 200. After five weeks it arrived and happily, I brought it home. I decided to put Mobil 1 oil in the car and as I was dropping down the rock shield, it fell onto my body filled with five inches of mud and about 20 newly growing trees. After much research I found out the 240sx had been in a major flood at the dealership in Conneticut, and was never re-registered as a flood vehicle. Instead it was shipped down to New York, and ultimately given to me as my new car. Once again, off to court I go! This time Nissan decides to send their five best lawyers to defend them. As luck would have it, the same judge that heard my first case was present for this one. After hearing my case and seeing the car he immediately went into a rage and said to the lawyers, "Five of you to fight one honest customer!?" This time it was his war also. He ordered them to give me the finest 240SX Nissan had available and at no additional cost.
The problem was that after all this time the 1997 cars were slowing down production and Nissan was gearing up for the potential new and fancy 1998 240's. In Japan, was a special built, special finished "Display 240SX " which was to be readied and placed in a custom built mahogany showcase for all the new U.S. and foreign auto shows. Because of all the care and attention that went into this vehicle, it was not to be given to anyone. Two weeks later, having heard about this special car, the judge ordered Nissan to ship it to the U.S., in its wooden case, and eventually ship it to my New York dealer. Having carried out the order, the Senior Vice President of Nissan America was removed from her position and the company, now without a show car for all their presentations. After the car came home, I could tell immediately that this vehicle had been assembled with the care and attention of watch builders. The car also has a special built body of Nissan "DuraSteel" which prevents the car from ever getting rust.
It was obvious that this special car could never be replaced. I decided it will spend its life in the living room of a special built home. It would be started and ran a few times a year and insured and registered and taken for annual inspections to maintain the history and mileage records with the State of New York Department of Motor Vehicles. Every year the gas was drained and refilled, the oil and filter changed with Mobil1 only. The car would be washed and waxed and then returned to its carpeted spot in the air conditioned living room. It has never seen rain or put on the street other than in August. A few years ago, a friend who is one of the founders of Tire Rack, presented me with a custom made set of OZ rims made especially for the car in Italy ( five rims ) mounted with the best Michelin Super Sport tires.
The original alloy rims with the original Bridgestone tires have been kept in the living room with the car for all these years. All original papers that are in any way associated with the vehicle have been kept in a special airtight container with all factory included amenities. The car now has approximately 675 miles on it. All of them with the ultimate care and love a car could ever expect. However, after 20 years of enjoying its company, I am now retiring and it is time to turn over the care and love to its next owner.
I hope this person will appreciate and pride oneself in the ownership of this one and only car for the next 20 years !!" -BV
Some people might think we are asking a crazy price, some may not. When you have a car like this, that has been babied for the last 2 decades, how do you put a price on it? The car will come with:
Original 15" Wheels & Tires
Set of specially made OZ 17" Wheels with Michelin Pilot Super Sports 215/45/17 with 1 extra spare OZ wheel still sealed in the box.
Original Wiper Blades
All paperwork (Original Bill of Sale from dealership, Title, Books, etc.)
Nissan 240SX Shop Manual
Car Cover
That all sounds really neat, until you realize it's a base model. There's no way in hell the "specially built" car for auto shows would be a base model with only a few options, and the S14 with a KA24 was only sold in North America so why would it have been used at international auto shows? Apparently the CarFax checks out as a 1 owner, 676 mile car, but the story behind it is b/s.

When I buy something off CL or even RS buy/sell I always just pay what they ask. If I feel is too high I just won't even contact them. Is a waste of both parties time.
When I meet up unless the items is really different than the pictures I usually just paid and leave. That being said I am buying CL/ RS buy/sell less and less. Is just too risky these days.
Lol wow...reminds me of those rebuilt Acura EL's with the Civic front end

Description: 2000 Honda S2000. This is the car that allows true drivers to step into a completely new level of driving pleasure. Legends in the racing world made their names from these beasts that cut down the competition year after year.
The thrill of driving such an outstanding car like this can be fully appreciated in the magnificent mountain roads that make up most of Canada. With suspension upgrades and an astonishingly healthy motor you will have little trouble making a believer out of yourself and your passengers.
This is a very rare and sought after rhd Silvia Spec R. Has some goodies like the coilovers, camber played, strut bar and exhaust.
Priced to move very quickly as space is at a premium.

Semi-related, I haven't posted anything on CL for a while.
I put up my wife's iPhone and within 2 hours I got 15 texts/emails.
14 out of 15 o them felt like a scam.
They all go along the lines of: "Hi there I'm interested in your phone, I'll need you to ship it out to (insert random city) because it's for my wife/son/gerbil/donkey. I'll give you an extra $200 for your troubles. I can do Moneygram/Paypal."
I just copy/pasted my reply to all of them "Thanks for your interest however I do prefer selling locally, if I don't get it sold I'll let you know"
I didn't even want to waste my time. However I am curious, if I did follow up on the text, how would it work? Wouldn't I ask for the paypal transaction first, then ship it out?
Or do these people already have a systematic way of asking you to ship first then don't pay?
It's amazing (and pretty sad) how well received my emails are, when they don't sound like they're sent by a 17 year old crackhead, that can't form a proper sentence.
Still got it?
I want to see it send me you're number.
I'll buy it right now for :lowball:
