A number of reasons about that platform:

-The chief engineer of the first gen IS was Nobuaki Katayama who worked on the original 86
-The JCE10/15 / GXE10 / SXE10 platform had double wishbone suspension front and back (no longer the case after the first gen)
-IS300 has a variant of the 2JZ engine (but no, it's not the Supra NA engine which was the non-VVTi version)
-Heritage - this is the platform that kickstarted Toyota's Gazoo Racing efforts: https://www.reddit.com/r/IS300/comme...tezzais300_is/

This car does have its flaws but it comes from a period when Toyota overengineered their cars and you are able to drive it to its limit day in and day out without putting a big dent on your wallet as long as you are willing to maintain it. And driving it feels nostalgic.

I have been putting Cusco parts on mine recently because of the Yen dropping and it reacts so well to suspension modifications.

Exactly this. Besides the... linear nature of the inline-6 (re: boring powerband) the suspension is the biggest problem on our IS300 we got here... even just the simple addition of 1" lowering springs all around completely changes the car.

Someone who shouldn't have at Lexus won an argument when that car was built for NA about how soft the suspension needed to be and it's unfortunate. When it came out, every review complained about how it fell short of the E46 because of slightly soft/aloof handling characteristics.

I kept having this thought in my head - with the way EVs are going, how long will Toyota keep making parts for our cars and how long are we able to keep these cars realistically?

It may become a luxury to drive an ICE car in the future with less and less gas stations around.

Around when my Celica hit 25 years old is when some of the model-specific OEM parts started to become NLA (ie bumpers, hoods, tail lights, etc). Things like bolts and relays and stuff that's shared with other, newer models is still around no problem.

I won't post my list of hoarded parts because I honestly don't even remember them all lol. I have started making a proper list though.

Most of them are sport design specific parts

- me, with almost zero actual justification, looking down my nose at lower trim levels

$23,700 for a Jeep Cherokee from Ontario. It's pretty clean and low mileage but this is ridiculous.

The spelling issues were eyerolling/mildly concerning.

The last line attempt at a joke put it in the CL Fails thread for me.

Pretty common for these cars. Guy tries to sell it himself, tells a bunch of dealers it's for sale and use their network and they take a cut.
