GM to introduce Scion FRS/Subaru BRZ Fighter GM's Reuss says rear-wheel drive Scion FR-S rival "on the list" By Steven J. Ewing Posted Jan 17th 2013 According to Australian site CarSales.com.au, General Motors North American boss, Mark Reuss, has expressed high interest in creating a small, rear-wheel-drive coupe to rival the Scion FR-S and Subaru BRZ. If something like this ever came to production, it could take the shape of the Chevrolet Code 130R concept car (pictured) that debuted at last year's Detroit Auto Show. "It's on the list. It would be a great entry for us," Reuss told CarSales.com.au, adding, "I don't know if they (Toyota) are making any money but it is a very attractive car." A production version of the 130R would likely ride on a small, rear-drive platform like GM's Alpha architecture, which currently underpins the Cadillac ATS and will eventually be used in the next Chevrolet Camaro. "We would do something with the knowledge of Alpha and the background, but we wouldn't take Alpha and try and shrink it," said Reuss. We've heard faint whispers about exactly this scenario previously, and the fact that it's still on the table is a good sign. Of course, if development hasn't started yet and a project like this gets the green light, there's no telling how far off a small, rear-drive coupe from GM could be. And considering how popular the Scion and Subaru twins have proven (at least in their early life), GM would be wise to get the ball rolling sooner rather than later. http://cache.jalopnik.com/assets/ima...3a14ae4eb9.jpg http://cache.jalopnik.com/assets/ima...1073d32609.jpg |

Jesus Christ thats ugly |
looks like a smaller, ugly camaro (don't think the new camaro is ugly, but this looks like an ugly version of it ) |
Looks like something from CARS the movie. LOL |
Lower the roof and hood lines, slope the rear glass more and for godssake, lose the Camaro lights. |
If they are looking to fight the FRS with this thing, they're going to get TKO'ed. |

Oh wow |
They just need to put a V8 in something small, with a solid rear axle, no computers, and call it a day. |

baby camaro |
hopefully they dont fuck it up and kill it like the Kappa platform solstice/sky. |
Looks like a 1:1 hot wheels car |
Think I just lost my appetite :heckno: |
Looks pretty terrible, and concept vehicles are supposed to look more "outlandish," shall we say, than their production counterparts. With that in mind, the production version, will most likely look like a cheap rental car. |
I actually think it looks alright, fuck me right? would I buy it over an frs? not if my life depended on it, but it's nice to see the brz/frs stir the pot and get manufacturers into competition mode again. perhaps it'll inspire a new ek hatch on the Honda side to prove rwd isn't the be all end all, or maybe Nissan will redesign a 200sx for the American market, something more affordable than a 370z and if you jack up an old mustang / camaro / 86.. honestly I can't tell them difference, the design was so simple except the fact that the Americans were beefier and had huge displacement. point is if it helps drives the market back to affordable, compact sports cars, then I'm pretty happy Posted via RS Mobile |
Lightning McQueen? |
Lol that looks like a toy. I'm a GM fan and I think it's ugly as fuck. |
