| Looking to buy my first car. Need help with kms on this car.
I am looking at this 2008 Acura TL.
It was at an auto auction in 2009 and it had 27k KM. Now it has 134k KM. The ad says that it was all highway kms. How much of a difference does it make?
Should I be worried that 107k KM were put on it in about 4 years?

107000/48 months = 2229 a month for 48 months/4 years.
KMs's do not always reflect the condition of it.
But be sure to get it check out and see how it drives.

If the car is daily driver and frequently maintained, then it is not a problem.
Mileage is not the most important issue, it is worth hundred dollars to get it inspect before purchasing.
In some cases, low mileage vehicle got more issues because long time storage might cause more issues if the engine oil not drain off before storage. Battery also need to be trickle charged during storage.

back on topic please.
Milage doesn't make a huge difference, but it will affect the resale value down the road.
Get the car inspected by a reputable mechanic that you trust and listen to whatever they say. It's worth the money.

It has the same km as my 1990.
Unless this car shows HUGE price savings, I would check out other ones. I'm sure the market is saturated with low km dealer maintained four year old cars. Why even take the risk with that high of

kms are kms no matter highway or city. that's the way i always look at it. but when buying a used vehicle i don't take the kms to be a be all end all, i always get it inspected through and through before buying.

so it had 27k after 1 year, and then proceeded to do about 27k a year for the next 4? what exactly is the problem? why is that concerning for you?
not excessively high kms, probably were highway since its slight above average for vancouver. that said i wouldnt rely on a sellers description for anything, get it inspected.

Be sure theres no frame/body damage as well... that will screw you over... If the previous owner didnt report any big accidents and just repair it at some bum shop.

The average annual mileage driven in Vancouver is 22,000kms/year according to Aircare. 27,000kms is a little over it but is not exactly crazy. I would bet on it being highway mileage though as it takes a TON of time to do that many miles in stop and go traffic.

Km Posted via RS Mobile | your car from 1990 has been babied or barely driven then. i oput on average 30000 kms on my car every year working in vancouver and living in surrey and driving back and forth sometimes 2 times a day. 27k per year seems very average to me and its not uncommon for cars especially hondas to run into the 200s, 300s, and sometimes 400 thousand km range with proper service and maintenance.
highway kms are better as opposed to city due to the fact the car is always running around a constant rev range. in the city the car will always be going up and down the rev range which would stress the engine a bit more.
i say theres nothing to worry about if you do the proper research and the car is up to date on all of its maintenance and service records. research any major defects or recalls and make sure they are all up to date too and you should be fine.

I wouldn't pay more than 16 for it cause of the high mileage. Would't worry too much tho, Hondas/Acuras are built to last.

Definitely have the vehicle inspected. I remember talking to a BCAA vehicle inspector after he inspected a car that someone was interested in from one of the car dealers on Kingsway and he red flagged the car. The most obvious was that the mileage did not match with the aircare records. The odometer was rolled back.
