Some very interesting news has just landed as director Bryan Singer has revealed, via his Twitter feed, that "American Horror Story" star Evan Peters has joined the cast of the upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past in the role of Magneto's son, Pietro Maximoff, aka Quicksilver. The news arrives in the wake of confirmation from Joss Whedon that Quicksilver and his sister, Wanda Maximoff, the Scarlet Witch, both have roles in his script for Marvel's The Avengers 2.
"Before he was an #Avenger," Singer writes, "he was just a REALLY fast kid. Thrilled to say #EvanPeters is joining #XMen #DaysOfFuturePast as #Quicksilver."
The news also arrives following confirmation this morning that Saoirse Ronan is interested in taking on the Scarlet Witch role in Marvel's The Avengers 2. The actress is said to be the "model" for Whedon's iteration of the character.
"We both have them," Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige told SuperHeroHype of the character rights last summer. "There's a specific arrangement with those two characters that would allow us to use them with 'Avengers,' but not discuss or reference their mutant or Magneto-related lineage. They can use them as mutants and as Magneto's relatives, but cannot have anything to do with 'The Avengers.'"

this whole "rights" thing is ridiculous imo wish Marvel could just rescind on a whim the contracts with different studios to be able to freely use their own characters
I didn't like the idea of quicksilver and Scarlett witch in the avengers since it was first rumoured. Mainly because of the fact that they will have I change their origins a lot which is lame. Posted via RS Mobile
wow didnt know that Agent Coulson is actually in the Ultimate Spiderman cartoon
so does that mean Marvel only sold their film rights to Sony with Spiderman? did they sell both film and tv rights to Fox?
X men animated series in the 90s wasnt produced by Fox but it aired on their channel which how this whole Xmen deal started
ultimate spider man is being produced by disney
so this just occured to me, can Marvel legally introduce their versions of Spiderman or Xmen on Agents of Shield as its being strictly a tv show? im pretty sure the answer is no otherwise Marvel themselves would have thought this up but im just curious on how franchise rights are handled
a little off topic but..
Star Trek is in a similar tricky situation.. the film rights is owned by paramount and tv show is owned by CBS.. both companies are owned by Viacom but they act independently from each other
After saying that he always wanted to use Ultron as the villain in a sequel, Whedon would go on to clear up some misconceptions that the title has caused. "Well, because there was a book called 'Age of Ultron' quite recently, a lot of people have assumed that is what we're doing, but that is not the case. We're doing our own version of the origin story for Ultron. In the origin story, there was Hank Pym, so a lot of people assumed that he will be in the mix. He's not. We're basically taking the things from the comics for the movies that we need and can use. A lot of stuff has to fall by the wayside."
So, if Hank Pym doesn't create Ultron, who does? Well, Tony Stark seems to be the most obvious candidate, especially after Iron Man 3 showed that he had managed to create sentient versions of his armour. "We're crafting our own version of it where his origin comes more directly from The Avengers we already know about. It's a little bit darker than the other film because Ultron is in the house. There's a science fiction theme that wasn't there in the other one. Ultron is definitely something that evolves, so we're going to get together a couple of different iterations. Nothing can be translated exactly as it was from the comics; particularly Ultron." Finally, he was asked about the scale of the movie and which character he is most enjoying writing and revealed: "It's very much a global Avengers film. A lot of the movie has to do with their place not just in America, but the world. Part of the fun for me, definitely this time around, is writing Hawkeye. He did get possessed pretty early by a bad guy and had to walk around all scowly for most of the movie so now it's nice to actually have the character there and see him interact with the other guys." What do you guys think of these comments?
No Hank Pym.
Star-Lord's mask
Looks bad ass. Love it.

"Because we called it 'Age of Ultron' -- and there was a book called 'Age of Ultron' recently -- people assumed that was the storyline we're doing, which is not the case," Whedon said.

how can you have Ultron but no Hank Pym.....
bah guess ultron is going to be an alien or just a virus ai that gained self awareness -_- with its creator being unknown or maybe they're going to make Tony Stark Ultrons creator

I'm betting it's Tony who creates him. It makes perfect sense. Joss said this movie is going to be darker, deeper and more personal. What's more personal than Tony using the Jarvis AI and creating Ultron?
But I agree. I'm mad that we won't see Hank Pym AND he's not the one who creates Ultron. Part of his popularity was because he was the one who created him.
Also wouldn't this hurt the Ant-Man movie more? Since the mainstream audience won't have any lead in to him at all.

well rumours has it that RDJ wanted to make Avengers more about him and supposedly part of his new contract that includes Avengers 2 & 3 was how it'll be more about him as well.
Samuel L Jackson also said that none of the actors get creative inputs except RDJ.
