I use OnlineTires. Bought my set of Hankook v12 and my Sisters' All-season. I had no problems.

what tires are you getting re11?
Compare prices for the tires you want with
Tire rack and 1010tires. Volco has a thing with 1010tires so
You could save the hassle by going through them
But I find tire rack has the best prices so far.
And like mentioned about you'll most likely get charged 12% tax
Jus declare the full amount and have your receipt ready

If your going to discount tire @ bellingham
What you do is
Search there site for the tire of your choosing (size, brand etc)
Find a US site or similar tire store/shop that Are cheaper so they can price match. Done deal
Works for me 3x times now
They also got promo so you get 70-100$ cashback checks

I use discount tire direct. Once you factor in shipping to point Roberts its usually cheaper than tire rack.
I just ordered a set of 225/45/15 toyo r888's shipped to PR. Discount tire doesn't sell them, and tirerack won't ship toyo to Washington or Oregon. I had to use online tires.com so I'll give you a review on them in a week or so.
The local online tire store is 1010tires. Let's compare pricing for my toyo r888's, not including shipping or tax or bullshit.
1010tires = $240.99 per tire CAD
Tirerack = $157.00 per tire USD
online tires.com = $158.94 per tire USD
only a goddamn fool would buy tires locally. it all depends on your tire. Cheapo all seasons are somewhat equal in price. But wide DOT R comps are significantly cheaper in the states Posted via RS Mobile | |

I got mine changed after coming back from a week-long trip in the states, so I wasn't even worried about paying
Saved close to $100/tire. I got quotes from quite a few places in the lower mainland, including RS vendors. the price difference was simply too steep to ignore.

oh yeah, you can go in anytime and they will do a rebalancing for free, and they price beat anything from tirerack to costco

Tire rack is almost always more expensive than discount tire direct because of the free shipping, for $250 tires I agree that you probably won't get taxed/duty and even if u do that's a pretty small tax

sooooo, discount tire it is! im not looking for something too expensive, but i know if im spending 500$ for tires here i could get much better tires for the same price over the boarder! thanks for all the help guys and gals im sure this helps many others as well!
now, i read that discount tire has a store, and online looks like they are free shipping, i guess it depends on how patient i am now! haha

I would suggest you factor in the possibility of tax/duty, even if it's $250 total. If you bring it back and you don't get taxed, that should be considered a bonus.

Guys, another question about buying tires in the States. Planning on an Oregon road trip and wanting to change out my tires there at the same time as they are getting a bit bald.
Are prices for Costco online (Costco.com) more expensive than the in-store price (Costco warehouse)? I.E. I am looking for some Bridgestone RE760's and there is a $70 rebate, and then it is listed at $170 online. Before, I bought tires for my mom's car here and it was $10-15 cheaper than what was listed on the website.

Bought mine from discounttiredirect.com. They also list on ebay as well and sometimes the prices are cheaper than their online site.

If you don't want to head South or deal with any online shipping/shopping, I would buy them at local Costcos. Their prices are fairly competitive.

Some of the tires from local canadian costco are almost the same price as any of the American stores. It confused me.
For example:
Here in Canada Costco.ca: Shop for Tires $110 per tire installed.
Same tire in Us costco: Costco.com - Shop for Tires $90 + 15 installed with fees included.
$105 total. Tirerack $91 each (not installed obviously, plus shipping don't forget) Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS Pole Position Finally, discount tire direct $102 a tire (they charge $20 per tire install) Tire Details - Discount Tire Direct
I know saving vary dramatically between all stores (online and local) and it all depends on what deal each place offers, and what type of tire you are looking for, but buying from the states is DEFINITELY not always cheaper.
The only way it is guaranteed cheaper is if
a)You can pick the tires up in the states and bring them home to install for free, if you've got a hookup
b)You are willing to take the risk and not declare.

^well it totally depends on the tire make and model too. If you're picky on a particular brand or model, you lose some flexibility to take advantage of the best deals. For example 195/60/15 tires start at $56 per on tirerack whereas the cheapest tire at costco.ca in that size is $95.
But you are right to do the research and comparisons ahead of time first. Personally I wouldn't make a special trip to save under $50 on a set of 4 tires as I feel local service and support justifies that extra cost.

The only reason I used the Bridgestone Potenza 195/60/15 is that's the tire i'm personally looking for my DD, and I noticed the price difference was so meager compared to the US, so I thought i'd use that as an example.
The big savings from buying in the states is with larger/odd sized tires as well as high performance tires.
Discounttiredirect has a set of 4 in my size that are really good and much cheaper (forgot which model), but their $20 a tire install + $ 2 tire disposal fee, then the tax at the border doesn't make it worth it for me.
Has anyone had their tires mounted and balanced at Discount Tire Direct?
Are they flexible on the install price?

There are shops around locally that will do mounting and balancing for cheap cash only deals. Especially if its a low maintenance and easy to mount size.
