maybe he put something in the oxygen tanks so when they shot the tear gas in there was a chemical reaction which started a fie? there was a dead body already inside so it will be fully burnt and they will think its his so now no one will be looking and he will be able to finish his main objective....

He shot down the the chasing officers so unless other cops came on the scene right away I dont see why he would stay in the cabin unless he was wounded.

What seems like what happened is he got into the firefight, possibly got overwhelmed by police/injured and retreated to the cabin. Then it appears the cops threw in tear gas to get him out -- a single shot was heard shortly thereafter. He didn't come out, then there are reports of cops talking about doing a 'burn' over the radio.... and next thing we know his cabin is on fire. Now they got his body
