Question about bondo
 

does anyone know if its possible to cut through bondo or any type of body filler? or will it crack? using a zip disk.

What are you trying to do?

It is very easy to cut through body filler, its main ingredient is "talc" which is basicly talcum powder. But because of the "talc" it is not as strong as a pure fibreglass so it may crack or crumble under stress.

Keep in mind industry standard is 3mm MAX for filler, so if its on thicker than that it will not be very strong.....

So basicly what im saying is whether it will crack or not is somewhat dictated by:
1) was it applied properly in the first place? ie thickness, right amount of activator
2) what you cut it with

I would recommend an abrasive cut off disk no more than 1/8th thick

Thanks for the reply! I'm helping my friend cut the inside of his fenders to clear bigger tires (4x4). I ran a magnet along the fenders and found body filler (previous owner) on a couple spots. From behind I can't see if its there to repair surface rust or to fix dents. Not sure how thick or what type of body filler it is either. I'm thinking it's probably best to leave it alone. I was also thinking of putting some body filler on pieces of scrap metal to see how different kinds of filler might cut, just so I know in the future
