There's nothing badass about that in any way shape or form, it's stupid. If you want a G-Wagen, get a G-Wagen.

If you want a triple axle badass machine get a Deuce of some sort.

Yup, they're real 6x6s! here's a mechanical diagram comparing a 4x4 and 6x6 G-Wagon.

You're forgetting, the G-Wagon is fundamentally a commercial and military vehicle.

Canada and many other countries spec G-Wagons for military use.

America's choice of the Deuce and Hummer makes them the odd ones, because they are unfavorably large in many circumstances.

Now, lets see some G-Wagons that are actually cool.

Unimogs aren't as versatile as G-Wagons.

The extremely high ground clearance makes passengers climbing out of one clumsy, and further, it acts in concert with the frame, which is meant to flex and bend, to create a very unsteady vehicle on road. Of course, those are also the characteristics which make it one of the most unbelievable off-road vehicles ever designed.

I can't resist - Unimog pictures!

The only war capable machine I need for my take-over:

http://www.biyokulule.com/sawiro/saw...ta%20wars1.jpg

Off-road capable and I can deploy my force of freedom fighters anywhere in the country.

Not forgetting don't worry ;) just think the 6 wheeled version is overkill/useless. I can't really see any benefit to it having 6 wheels - no way in hell it needs the extra axle for towing, frame is probably the limiting factor. Offroading if it has a set of lockers it's fine.

Just think this one off example/option is silly. G-wagen's on their own are wicked machines, equivalent to Rubicons and Defenders. There's a local guy with a G-wagen on 37's with little to no lift, thing goes anywhere.

hud 91gt 02-20-2013 11:23 AM

The G is by far one of my favourite vehicles. Completely overpriced for what it is, but a total utilitarian in every way shape and form. That is if your not afraid of scratching it :p

One day... somehow

There's nothing wrong with a 6 wheeled G-Wagon, especially when it's going to tackle the sand dunes of Middle East (which is where its going.) I think the larger unimogs are classed as tractors and not road vehicles, that puts it in a whole different game.

If it wasn't for fuel consumption, I'd definitely save up for one.

VRYALT3R3D 02-20-2013 04:34 PM

I was never a fan of the G class. Stupid expensive and it still has recirculating ball steering. I'll pass.

Please, tell me how 6 wheels is going to be "better". Yes, sure you get a better surface area but completely unecessary, get a set of 15-16" wide tires and air those puppies down to 0-5psi with beadlocks...

I'd venture a guess, the advantage to the light three axle chassis is the ability to increase length without significantly upping the frame strength. I can see that being adventitious for truck designed to carry light cargo, like people. Tough question though, I'm not too confident with my guess.

Large commercial vehicles are classed as tractors, because they're designed to carry, pull, or push large payloads.

It's still a road vehicle, and is distinctly different from something like an agricultural tractor or backhoe.

OMG! We're doomed before we even start!

I have a new plan....one that doesn't use any gasoline at all. And the off-road abilities are endless:
