2 Attachment(s) Here are my before pics, just in cause I lose the file in the future.. Pic 1 = No Invisaligns (those little numbs are hooks on my teeth for my invisaligns, which will be taken off after everything is done) Pic 2 = Wearing invisaligns |
^Looking good! How you finding process right now? Is it a pain to wear? Comfy? Not noticeable to the eye or the feeling of something in your mouth? OH and how long from the first pic to 2nd? |
The whole routine thing isn't to bad! The first weak was a learning experience, felt uncomfortable, irritated my inside lip (the plastic is sharp!), and I cut my tongue a bunch cause of my constant flicking/playing with the invisaligns.. I'm on my third tray and it doesn't bother me anymore. Also learned quickly not to flick with my tongue..(cut it up pretty bad the first few days) I've had a few clients ask me whats up.. not because they noticed with their eyes but they could hear my lisp and saw my over speech was off. Overall I don't think people notice it and my lisp is slowly fading now that im getting used to it more! The pics were done a few days apart, I think it was just the angle & lighting?! |
The first thing I thought when I read your post was that you probably don't have too much authority over what kind of treatment you want. Some people are invisalign candidates and some aren't. If you have a very complex treatment, you may not have any other option other than fixed braces. You get a lot of different consultations because different orthodontist are comfortable with what they are used to doing/their experience. Some orthos are only comfortable with surgery and are not willing to treat patients who have severe open, under, over, or cross bites with invisalign or fixed braces alone. I had an under bit/ open bite that didnt look too diff from yours, and my Ortho suggested fixed braces for a year, surgery, then invisalign. i went to another ortho who said they could potentially treat me with just braces and removing teeth. I didn't like the idea of removing teeth (I still have all my teeth including all 4 wisdom teeth), but they wanted to remove some premolars as well... which IMO is camoflouging the problem, not fixing it. So I went with my first option but without the invisalign. Total time in braces was about 2 years. Braces in 1. Surgery. Then the last year was to stabilize and fine tune the bite. I still wear my retainers every night, and have been for the last 4 years. The retainers I have are made by invisalign, they are called Viveras. For the guy who posted that you may need additional treatments, that isn't true if you wear your retainers.. Obviously if you stop wearing your retainers, your teeth will keep shifting.. and yes, the ortho does tell you that, at the end of your treatment. The most critical time of your treatment is when you are debraced. You have to be adamant at wearing your retainers. teenagers are the worst for this. |
So any updates?! Sorry for being so curious but I don't know anyone with invisilign so I can't ask about progress updates. I mentioned in the first page that my front tooth naturally shifted despite have braces and although it's not noticeable, I'm interested to see if this would be an option i could take for a quicker and less bothersome fix. |

Yes, wear your retainers or else they'll shift pretty quickly. After I finished my treatment, I only wore my retainer trays while I sleep. Terrible, I know. It's been over a year, and my teeth still shift like crazy. If I forget to wear my retainer for a night, you can feel a lot of pressure in your gums. You can imagine how bad it was when I forgot to bring the tray with me on a 1 week calgary vacation. I was never able to conquer the lisp while wearing my tray :( |
Yes I wore them every night up until 2005? After that no more. Posted via RS Mobile |

Picture looks weird. Hard to see the progress! Currently on the 11th tray, flossing is noticeably easier, the bottom teeth is a lot more straight and not pressed against each other anymore, and the top gaps are closing slowly! Ortho check ups were good, i've been told they are moving very well and better then expected Still got a long way to go though. I think I have about 27 trays set up at the moment. Hopefully its done by then. |
2 trays left for me!!! on 26 right now. |
Melonboy: Overall, I'm impressed from what I'm seeing with the invisilign photos you've been posting. Can people tell you are wearing it? Or is it pretty discreet? And how long is the process suppose to take? And how long from one tray to the next? |
^ Me too! I'm pretty happy with how things are going overall. For the most part, people can't tell I'm wearing them. Usually only the ones who have them or is interested in getting some ask me about it. The whole thing should be done by 2014 summer. I switch trays every 2 weeks. The thing is after the iinvisaligns I'll be getting 2 veneers for the sharp pointy teeth and may think of getting a professional whitening done. Im going to be broke after all this lol.. |
you better damn well wear your retainers after! |
im gonna have to bump this old thread i just started mine! so i have a few questions id like to ask. im on tray 1, hurt like hell the first few days, couldn't eat hard foods (understandable) and cut my gums a bit (and tongue from playing with the backs). but, i take them out every 2-3 hours just to wash them off under cold water for a few seconds then pop them back in. after each meal ill brush and floss, but when it comes to cleaning the trays should i be scrubbing those down with toothpaste as well each time? read online that i can pop them in water twice a day and throw in a denture cleaning tablet and that will be safe im going in on wednesday to have buttons put on my teeth. do those hurt? i didnt think my teeth were too bad, i got them to just fix a small gap between my front teeth. but apparently my jaw isn't lined up, so the middle of my lower teeth are to the left of the middle of my upper two teeth...im assuming ill need those bands. long story short, i need 31 trays. seems like a lot...but im not to worried about it. my main concern is how often and how to clean the trays. i know the brochure says dont use this or that etc, but that never stops people. so, have any of you used denture cleaners? or just brush with toothpaste after each meal? or only brush them in the morning/night? |

1 Attachment(s) Forgot about this thread... ended up doing almost a extra year of invisalign sets because my ortho said it looked off. Personally I couldnt tell the difference. She wanted to do another set but i told her its fine. I couldn't see any difference on our last set she gave me and I liked how the teeth looked already! Would HIGHLY recommend Dr. Sui from Clearview orthodontics. She is legit Fast forward a month after. Went to my dentist to get 3 crowns done on my front 3 teeth. (2 for the wolf teeth, 1 for one of my mids that was broken. replacing it to match the others) Whammmo. About 3 years of dental work, nearly 10k down the drain.. but I absolutely love my teeth now. Worth every penny and time spent. Cant see the bottom teeth.. but trust me. Looks just as good:) |
an extra year? fuck.. my wifes teeth were pretty bad as she never wanted braces as a child, hers were not that noticable but they were a lot worse than yours originally were, she has conventinial braces and her total time is going to be like a year and 6 months the additional time invisalign takes is def a downside, especially with minor adjustments it seems that regular old braces are so far ahead of when i had them as a kid you can get a tonne of movement done very quickly |
My fiancé had perfect too teeth, a few minor crooked teeth on the bottom and she's going on an extra 9 months.. I toed her from the beginning it's not worth it, but hey.. why listen. |
an extra 9 month, or 12 months is hardly the end of the world you want fast, you can run into problems like receding gums your specialist recommended more time usually for reasons that are not immediately obvious in the aesthetic zone most patients only think about it from the cosmetic perspective, it's not that black and white |
