2014 Jeep Cherokee Revealed Ahead of 2013 New York Auto Show
Published: 02/22/2013 - by Ed Hellwig
2013 New York Auto Show
Just the Facts:
The 2014 Jeep Cherokee breaks cover ahead of its official debut at the 2013 New York Auto Show.
The 2014 Cherokee replaces the Jeep Liberty.
Chrysler says the Cherokee will deliver 45-percent better fuel economy than the Liberty.
AUBURN HILLS, Michigan — Chrysler revealed the first official photos of the all-new 2014 Jeep Cherokee today ahead of its public debut next month at the 2013 New York Auto Show.
The midsize SUV will replace the current Jeep Liberty SUV and revive one of the brand's most well-known nameplates in North America. The Jeep Cherokee was last sold in the U.S. in 2001.
No details were released for the all-new vehicle, but Chrysler said it would have "best-in-class" capabilities and deliver fuel economy improvements of more than 45 percent over the Liberty. The 2012 Jeep Liberty is rated at 16 mpg city and 22 mpg highway. It comes standard with a 3.7-liter V6 mated to a four-speed automatic transmission.
The 2014 Jeep Cherokee will be built in Chrysler's Toledo, Ohio assembly plant starting in the fall of 2013.
Additional details will be announced at the New York auto show in late March.
Jeep has wisely given up on the Liberty and brought back the well-known Cherokee nameplate for a vehicle that's better suited to take on the latest crop of midsized SUVs and crossovers. |

Just as terrible
I don't see how this new nightmarish monster resembles a Cherokee in any way shape or form. The Patriot with a lift should be called the Cherokee, not this gussied up family hauler. |

Notice that this Cherokee will replace the Liberty.
As not-so-good-looking as the Liberty was, it was still much more "Jeep," and didn't look like an alien.
This Cherokee will burn eye sockets within a 20m radius.
