If this is your first time going, there are lots of places to take pictures. The cathedral ruins or the casino strip come to mind. If you go to the top of Penha Hill you can get a good panorama of the place.

During my trip in July, I went to the old weather station and saw the ways they signal typhoons. Low and behold, a week later while in HK they made use of the same signals during a typhoon I was stuck in, so I thought that was pretty cool.

As for eats, you can't leave without having a po tat (the Portuguese egg tart) from Koi Kei. Otherwise, their jerky from the same area is very good too (and they give what seems to be unlimited samples)

Koi Kei Bakery And Choi Heong Yuen Bakery | Shopping in Macau

EDIT: Oh and at Koi Kei, they have these "Almond pastries". It's almost like phyllo pastries and almonds. Very light, tons of layers, usually in bite sizes. YOU CAN'T LEAVE MACAU WITHOUT THEM

Go check out T&T, they imported a lot of Koi Kei stuff. So when you're there in Macau, try out stuff we don't have here at least.

For egg tarts, you must go to Lord Stows. Lord Stow's Bakery

head to the macau tower, its a tourism hotspot, if you're feeling ballsy you can even do some bungee jumping off the tower, and I also believe that they have a restrunt on top too, along with a lounge, etc...

Old Lisboa basement is the top tourist spot i believe. Lots to see.

Just think of Macau as Vegas but replace the slot machines with baccarat tables, caucasian/mexican/blacks/asians with rude chinese people.

In terms of food you should try some local portuguese inspired food and pork chop buns

There's a seedy strip club (I forgot the name) where there's this lady that shoots darts out of her vag at balloons. It's amazing and disgusting.

Have fun!

Last time I was in Macau, there was that "Three Lamps District" that has some old-world Asia (Burmese, Laos?) cuisine in some hole-in-the-wall shops, it was an interesting experience to eat some noodles you won't find anywhere else.
Also a "must-eat" is the Pork Buns??... (correct me if I'm wrong)

The casino's ... well let's just say it's not Vegas, people go there PURELY to gamble, there's rude mainlanders everywhere and it doesn't look like anyone is having "fun" there.

My 2 cents, although I haven't been back in many years...

About the casinos- totally correct. Unless you're gambling or shopping, I'd say don't waste your time in them. So much to see outside.

As for the pork buns- they're pretty good, but not mind-blowing. Worth the small change to try though!

lol @ vag shooting darts. what the fuck.

Anyways. I go there often. Food isn't worth it. I think food in HK or Van is way better in general.

Koi Kei Bakery is everywhere. They give samples of a lot of their food. Try and buy whatever you like. My recommendations: Thin crispy pork jerky, thick beef/pork black pepper jerky, and ginger candy. Oh, have fun getting grinded in that place.

For egg tarts you want to go either Lord Stow's or Margaret's which is in a much more convenient location. They are good because there's always a ton of people buying, which means you get the tarts fresh outta the oven.

That's the same thing with porkchop buns. Only get them fresh. Otherwise they'll be soggy and shit and you'd be like wondering why the fuck is this place famous for them.

If you decide to watch shows whatever you do, do NOT watch The House Of Dancing Water at the City of Dreams. I went 2 years ago when it was new and the talk of the town. OMG I have not seen a worse show before. Total waste of my time and money.

Other than the portuguese tarts I wasn't really impressed with the food in Macau either. I went to a few places and ate the famous Pork Buns and thought Vancouver or Hong Kongs were better.

Visit the original old Hotel Lisbao basement mall and check the local talent. You will be in for a surprise.

Speaking of good eats, the Hotel Lisbao, Portas do Sol restaurant on the 2/F, East Wing
has one of the best dimsums.

I noticed that as well that every time we would roll up to a hotel, park the car in the underground and see hookers as we enter the lower level of the hotel.

lol oh man I guess I dodged a bullet. All I was told by my gf's family was that we had to check it out, but the package with hotel didn't work out for the days we were there.

I stayed at the Venetian, and in the central court there's a bar at the lower floor. My gf and I had dessert and just people-watched- there were a bunch of tranny hookers trying to pick up dudes. There were a few taken away, so I'm not sure what the guys were thinking.

The best part was trying to figure out which ones were real women. Good God let me tell you- there were some dudes that were so prettied up, they looked legit. Until you heard their deep baritone pipes

When I went, the people we stayed with and a lot of other people in Macau were all saying the same thing. I think it was made a big deal because it's a fairly high production valued show for Asia. Where as for people here it's not a big deal, we got Cirque du Soleil in Vegas and tons of other stuff in North America that are in huge arenas etc.

With that said, even taking that show on face value, it sucked big time. There were a couple decent parts but in the end it still sucked big time and wasn't worth the price equivalent to watching a show in Vegas.

assuming you're a single guy

when you get off hte boat / plane and it's late, hop on a taxi, tell the taxi driver.... take me to the closest massage place. you get off, you jut spend a day there, jut massage, then shower, then eat, then chill out. get a rub and tug if you want. wake up all refreshed and it'll probably cheaper than renting a hotel.
