Some of those cars look alright, but is there anybody seriously dumb enough to think that this is a good thing? http://www.staticcaptains.com/wp-con...03/MG_3490.jpg |

I agree some people really take it to an extreme. In fact I also used to think, wow that looks so stupid. But rather than hate, I choose to now appreciate the fact the owner went and did something people don't do. Whether function or form, I don't care, the fact that they went and modified to their own preference was enough for me to give respect. I think that's part of the problem here locally, everyone thinks they are the shit. I've heard about the hate from stanced cars to track-looked cars. Too many stuck up minds and hate, not enough appreciation to go around. Oh well, enough of my rant, just hope you guys enjoy the media and whatnot. |
Good meet....i seen a couple revscene members go too....too many cars with minimal parking space, location was decent.....washington sure put there car too low for us canadians......too slammed:fullofwin: |

I don't care about VIP, "stance" cars, "hellafuck" cars and all that shit, but once you mod your car to be improperly functional just so you can put others on the road on danger, then I have a problem. I'm talking about when your tread doesn't even bead properly on the wheel, when your tire becomes a balloon, when you can't turn at more than 20 km/hr, when your car can't get out of your flat drive way, when the tread has less contact patch than a bicycle tire, when you have to avoid the smallest dip in the road because you don't want to scuff the bottom of your bumper. Then you have the people calling it a "life style" because "NEEDS MOAR low" and "racecar", but that's a whole different rant. |
Fair points, I agree and also question how safe it is to do so. Still my POV stays the same even though your safety concerns run through my mind when I see something like this. In retrospective, I compare it to how safe it is to drive like a douchebag around the streets in a 300hp car. (not saying you in general) Anyways, the debate is beat to ground, I see it on stancenation every day, I just wanted to share some pictures because it was the first big event in the PNW. That is all :) |
When it comes to modding cars, I think Digital Underground sums it up best. Dowutchalike. |

I can't imagine being able to control a vehicle safely with a negative camber of 30 degrees + when shit hits the fan and you need to stop suddenly/swerve. |
enjoy your hellaflush |
wouldnt more neg camber actually help when turning? either way, there's a point in which looks have gone too far to sacrifice for safety. Quote:

At least some people are still modding cars. |

When you brake, the less compounded camber you have the better. When you accelerate, the less compounded camber you have the better. When you turn, the correct amount of camber putting more rubber onto the road the better. But since those hellastanced cars have almost no suspension travel the car retains all of its static 20 degrees of camber in a turn and there is no grip anyway. Always try to maximize the amount of rubber touching the road, that's always going to help. doing 20 degree camber is not going to help. you might as well drive on bicycle wheels and tires. |
Everyone will always have a different opinion on the car scene. Be it the current trend here of "Hellaflush" where the car is solely based on form and has nothing to do with function. A "track" stance where the car is built to handle flawless around a racetrack. "Hotrods/Muscle" where it's to go fast in a straight line.. Or even taking it to Japan for the "Bosozoku" style. Static | Captains is just taking pictures and videos to showcase to us what is going on in the Pacific NorthWest car scene. |
the main concern is: are these cars safe to be sharing the road with. When a 3500lb metal comes careening through your living room because it couldn't handle a bump on the road, your opinion doesn't matter. |
you can have both... i have mm's from fender to tire, i dont rub, not running crazy camber, still poke still have suspension travel thanks to extended top hats... all i have to worry about is speed bumps.. |
yeah it's mostly directed towards cars with unrealistic camber angle and still be on the road... http://hallohage.files.wordpress.com...ber-life-3.jpg http://www.golfmkv.com/forums/attach...1&d=1271067120 This dubber made the news for his awesome contraption that enabled his camber amount... http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/j...2ebba8f7_b.jpg This has to stop... |

I don't think this is even an issue in Vancouver. I don't think I've seen anyone with this kind of crazy camber. So breathe a sigh of relief, you can rest easy at night. |
the bumper not hanging on all that tight is really not a harm to other road users. |
I just came in here to enjoy the photos from Static Captains.. |
