Already emailed Rob. I want to see proof of everything written, particularly the 'well maintained' part since that is what makes or breaks (literally) these cars.

that last part of the description is the same cut and paste catchall phrase they use on all their car adverts.
i've always been told to run away from 928's, and that top gear episode is still fresh in my mind... no offense but what are you thinking?!?

I've been researching these cars for years and there are a lot of myths around them. They are actually very reliable IF the previous owner(s) did the routine scheduled maintenance. Now, of course, with a car of this age, that would be hard to know unless paperwork was provided.
Porsche built these with very high grade parts and higher build standards and even decades later, it still shows provided you get a good example.
Not saying I'm going to run out and buy this but I've loved them since I was a kid and sometimes I say YOLO, lol.
Nothing gets me going like an early 80s "metallic oatmeal" coloured Porsche with an automatic and engine in the front...
all jokes aside, I have purchased product from Rob and can vouch for the quality of it and how he conducts himself. Still though, with a car of that age the available paperwork, if any, will dictate it's value.
Scarface and Gobots made me love the 928. The auto is more reliable and the colour is well....I've seen worse...
let's not forget "risky business"... proof that 928's do not float.

That literally sounds like a 3k car to me. Approaching 10k could get you a really nice 944 if you are interested in getting into a Porsche. Posted via RS Mobile
Maybe it'll bounce back and appreciate like the aircooled 911SC and Carreras.

Well honestly mint examples will climb with cars like that as the shit ones die off. An automatic, leaky, 2 accident, "metallic oatmeal" (I love that BTW) classifies as a shit example IMO.

They are both steals in the used market which is why I'd rather take the V8 equipped Porsche. It's way more GT than sports car. I don't mind paying more for a car with higher mileage yet more documentation.

I'm sure if you wanted to get into a 928 there are plenty out there better than that one. I do love a nice 928 as well, but like I said, good examples of rare sports cars have shown signs of climbing no matter what they are. An accident free car is a very important part of getting into older cars like this. Buy nice and cry at the hit your bank account takes once, as opposed to trying to find a bargain and crying over multiple bank account hits trying to make an OK 30 year old german sports car into a nice one. There is nothing more expensive than a cheap german car.

Definitely a smart way to look at it.

I agree with everything you say.
If I found one, it would only be a summer ride. Since buying my low mileage Regal back in July 2013, I've only racked up 2000 km and that's with 6 months of insurance starting in October.
The Porsche would be May to September at most. The G8 is my 'beater' lol.
