Car keeps getting broken into at DT parkade

So my roommate parks at a parkade downtown for work, where the past two weeks his car has been jimmied into four times. By the fourth time there was nothing really valuable to steal and luckily there's never any damage.

His car is an '02 cavalier. Since it's not really valuable, he has no intention of investing in a security system. The company that runs the parkade is useless.

It's becoming a hassle more than anything, anything you guys suggest he could do besides parking somewhere else?

If there is truly nothing of value in it... leave the door unlocked or the window down.

Doesn't sound like your friend has done this but something to keep in mind is that ICBC tracks people who end up having to make multiple comprehensive claims even if just due to bad luck. Eventually if ICBC thinks you are considered too high risk, they'll higher raise your deductible to a minimum amount or even refuse coverage.

Keep glove box empty and open. Leave a note on car saying "move along nothing to steal".

Which parkade, and what time of day?

Print out a couple of these stickers and stick em on the car :troll:

Well since there was no damage, he hasn't claimed any of the break-ins via ICBC. They've only stolen a GPS (not claimable) and a sunglasses case.

Parkade on Seymour just past Pender, I believe; on the left side of the street. Not sure time exactly, but he just parks during standard business hours 8am-5pm.

Ironic thing is he is super paranoid about locking his doors, that he always goes around and gives the passenger door handle a pull before leaving as he doesn't trust any of his friends locking it properly.

Not familiar with the parkade, but where does he park inside it?

Meaning:
-Park RIGHT at the entrance?
-3 floors up?
-Tucked in a corner?

I know that people say they always are paranoid of break-in's here or there.. Well if you park in the right spots (usually right beside the entrance/exit) then there's so much traffic going by people won't dare break into your car.. Just my 0.02 cents.

proxy alarm and a cheap compustar ftw, dont have to touch car before it starts beeping, anything gets close enough to touch and the alarm is going off, get the siren hidden, and hood release re located, 200$ setup is worth it i think, otherwise leave the doors unlocked and nothing in the car

Chicago, circa 1980.
Fancy luggage stolen from car.
Feral cats within tore the shit out of the thief.

PETA flame suit on.

LOL, made me think of the "SNAKE" Hummer in Gone In 60 Seconds. Tell him to get one of those and leave it in the car.

Was talking to a downtown parking lot security guard a few days ago and he mentioned a car got broken into because of an apple left inside..

Crazy world we live in when people would smash your window to get an apple.

Funny enough, the first time they didn't take anything not even the GPS that was in the car, but they did come back for it the second time. Third time they took his Versace glasses case (no glasses). Fourth there was nothing
