How to "repair" heavily scratched BMW leatherette?
 

Today my folks decided to take our dog in the E90 with them. Lo and behold, the dog decided that he'd scratch the hell out of both front seats. I haven't taken any photos, but it looks pretty damn terrible. There aren't any punctures, but it's like someone took a metal rake and went back and forth several hundred times on the leatherette.

I have never had to deal with leather/leatherette damage, so perhaps another member can chime in on how to get rid of or reduce the look of the scratches!

leatherique. I've been researching the same thing, and based on what I've seen online, the products looks pretty promising.

I've used mr clean magic eraser followed by meguir's leather and vinyl cleaner.

Not perfect but got rid of most of the small blemishes.

For cracks in the side bolster of the front seat I used shoe polish (which worked very well)

duct tape.

Don't use the Magic Eraser. Its like taking sandpaper to your clearcoat. You're going to get rid of the layer that's on top of the actual leather.

if it is totally ruined, might consider to get it reupholstered
or if you still have warranty, claim it

Definitely not totally ruined, they're not deep scratches either, more like surface "scuffs" that are a little more than actual scuffs. Where it's scratched, it's like a lighter colour and it's quite obvious. Definitely no need to reupholster.

There is still warranty, but how will I convince BMW to get it fixed for me lol.

Just buy a decent leather/leatherette cleaner/cream and put it on there. It should hydrate the top layer and get rid of the pasty looking scratches.

if I was in your position I'd either try a cheap leather/pleather conditioner or just go visit your local detailer and just get whatever they recommend as I'm sure they see this kinda stuff everyday.

there was a tear in my leatherette before, and the dealer replaced it under warranty.

theres a premature wear n tear n then there is self induced damaged, which one do u think warranty will cover?

Let's see pictures first.

Go the warranty route first, if you try to fix it yourself the warranty, if any, is voided.
If the warranty is not in effect start with the easy fix first, the cleaner and go from there.
It is worthwhile asking a pro for an estimate.
