Bose amp bypass

just picked up a Kenwood Excelon 897... was gonna get it installed but cant afford labor (sorry SG... love you but can't afford you).. so i'm gonna do it meself and friend.

my only worry is the bose bypass. anyone got experience with that?

speed3. the more i read, the simpler it seems... but thats only if i'm sticking with the factor speakers... which i will be for a while... but i do'nt want to hack up the harness and need it later when i get around to speakers and a proper sub

Bypass is impossible.
Trade it in for a BOSS and scotch tape the green wire to the pink wire.
Do the hokey pokey and you're done.

I suppose speed3 I'm supposed to instantly know what year it is also? A suggestion, if asking on a forum for help you should be prepared to have the specifics of your car + mention where you have looked or who you've asked. Makes like easier for people trying to help. Being lazy while typing out a question is only gonna get lazy answers back.

I'll assume it's first gen. Amp should be under the passenger seat.

These are the speaker outputs
TOP - In order from left to right
grey w/ red stripe (FR-)
white w/ red stripe (FR+)
grey w/ black stripe (FL-)
white w/ black stripe (FL+)
solid grey (BR-)
solid white (BR+)
grey w/ white stripe (BL-)
white w/ purple stripe (BL+)

These are the inputs to the amp
solid blue (remote turn on)
solid purple (FL+)
green w/ white paint (FL-)
solid red (FR+) *edit switched from FR-*
solid green (FR-) *edit switched from FR+*
brown w/ blue stripe (BL+)
yellow w/ blue stripe (BL-)
yellow w/ green stripe (BR+) *edit switched from BR-*
white w/ blue stripe (BR-) *edit switched from BR+*


Once seats out you should make sure the wiring diagram matches what you have because it varies between years. Might i suggest making sure the battery is disconnected and when you're cutting wires to cut one at a time to reduce risk of shorting the whole system. Triple check wires before cutting. Don't just tape the wires together, ideally solder or use crimp connectors if lazy but have good crimpers. One loose wire can short the whole system. Good luck. Patience is the key.

Its under the driver's seat actually. Sub and sub amp are under the passenger seat.
