Gas Stations that offer free air in Vancouver?

It looks like all my go to gas stations stop offering free air. Do any of you know of any locations in Vancouver that still offer free air?

GabAlmighty 04-29-2013 07:48 AM

I go to the ones that charge for air. Then I walk inside. I proceed to tell them to turn on the air please. I fill up my tires.

All the Chevrons that I go to offer free air. Shell seems to be the only one that I go to that charges for air.

Yea chevron. Also, they offer free water. I think it's for coolant.

Gridlock 04-29-2013 08:30 AM

and at a frigging dollar? Hi! I pay $3 for a sip of something fizzy, I think you can blow up my tires on the house...Esso, I'm looking at you.

Sometimes I just roll into the lane connecting to full serve and just use the air they have there.

adambomb 04-29-2013 08:40 AM

As others have said, most Chevrons still provide free air/water. To keep something this simple free to your customers and car lovers is one of the main reasons Chevron always gets my business.

no 2 + new westminster - Chevron

jmanhas 04-29-2013 08:42 AM

im pretty sure Petro Canada charges for air too

Soundy 04-29-2013 08:47 AM

Pretty much all of them can and will turn on the air for free, you just have to go inside and ask. So quit your whining, get off your lazy ass, walk inside the store and ASK THEM TO TURN ON THE AIR.

westopher 04-29-2013 08:56 AM

I've never once had someone not turn on the air for free, even if I'm just cruising buy on my bmx and don't buy anything.

I think I mentioned that in my first post but everyone still seemed to feel the need to repeat themselves over and over:rukidding: It's fun when I have to asked them to turn it on 6-7 times when i'm airing the Yota back up haha.

Actually I have asked this once before, and the guy inside the Esso on Victoria and Kingsway said no. Since then I never asked anyone else since it was assumed I would get the same answer everywhere else.

That was a year ago... maybe things have changed since then?

Sushi604 04-29-2013 09:33 AM

Now that I mention it, if your ever in Point Roberts getting gas, the nice people at USA GAS and Texaco will turn on the air for you if you ask nicely.

I'll go ask later tonight when I pass by a Chevron gas station to confirm this!

And what did mommy and daddy teach us about assuming...

That you shouldn't spend more gas/money/time to hunt for another gas station that might say "Yes" to free air. Man up, pay the exorbitant air tax, fill your tires and be on your merry way?

Yes, the god damn "ass of u and me" lines never seems to fail us in life.

Acura604 04-29-2013 09:46 AM

i picked up one of these and leave it in trunk... pretty cheap .

mixed reviews..but mine has been working solid for over a year now.

$10 dollar compressor at Canadian Tire... don't have to go to a station to fill up air.

jlenko 04-29-2013 10:29 AM

Pfft... just use the 30 gallon compressor in your garage, pull a line out to the driveway and pump up your own air.

What? You don't have a compressor set up in your garage like everyone else? For shame...

PJ 04-29-2013 10:38 AM

+1 for just going inside and asking.

The 50 cents or whatever is mostly just to stop people from messing around with/abusing it.

Chevron on 41st and Main has "free" air for sure though.

BABU 04-29-2013 10:50 AM

Chevron on Arbutus and Valley drive has free air pump.

Manic! 04-29-2013 10:50 AM

Charging for air is a scam. There is a company in B.C. that goes to all the gas station telling them that running air costs a lot of money and that they will install a air system for free and will split the money they make. Once the system is installed they get the store to donate there profits to charity. The company takes all the money but who knows if they give any to charity. Our gas station has been open for 22 years and have never charged for air and never will. Our cost has been around $1500 that includes 3 air compressors. Customers should not have to pay for air.
