| 2014 Porsche 911 Turbo and Turbo S debut http://www.autoblog....-turbo-s-debut/ Quote: At the heart of the new Turbo is a rear-mounted, turbocharged, 3.8-liter flat-six engine, making use of twin, variable-turbine-geometry turbos. For the standard Turbo, the result is 520 horsepower, a 0-60 miles per hour sprint of 3.2 seconds and a top speed of 196 mph. Not quick enough you say? Well, Porsche will also happily sell you a Turbo S with 560 horsepower, 0-60 mph in just 2.9 seconds and a top speed of 198 mph. Impressively, Porsche also notes that the Turbo S will dispatch the Nürburgring Nordschleife in "well under 7 and a half minutes – with standard production tires." |

I actually drove a GT-R, a 2013...
My impressions of it were:
-Very stiff suspension
-Interior nothing to write about.
-Seats are excellent
-Visibility is poor
-Trunk opening is horrible, and limited space inside the trunk
-It felt boring. All you have to is set launch control and let the car do the rest.
-Too much electronics imo, takes away from the driving experiance
-Paddles are fun for a bit, but I miss a manual transmission.
-Styling is dull. Only colour I liked the GT-R in is red.
-It has NO issue putting the power down at all.
-Very heavy and you can feel the weight through turns.
Ended up buying a more engaging car then the GT-R and have no regrets. The GT-R is amazing though, just wasn't for me.

I haven't driven a GT-R though I have sat in one, but from the feedback I've heard from those who have, and those who have driven it on the track, they all seem to say it's quite an absolute beast on the track, but it does get boring after awhile.

When a $950 destination charge is factored in, the Turbo model will start at $149,250, while the Turbo S asks $182,050.

A sports car icon that gets even better performance.
-very reliable car too. JD Power rates Lexus and Porsche at the top of car reliability rankings: http://autos.yahoo.com/blogs/motoram...2544256.html )

| Race car or sports car? 911s are probably better known for being fantastic road cars, although I've always liked the 70s Martini and Jägermeister 935s.
The new Turbo will be killer for sure, although it's too bad manual trannies are no longer offered.

I like
but I agree with Timpo
It will be a tough call between the GTR or Turbo S, they're similar, but also different cars.
It would make so much more sense for me to buy the GTR ($110k) vs Turbo S($180k)

they might put out similar performance figures but to say "i'd pick a gtr over a turbo cuz its cheaper huehuehue" tells me you can't afford either one to begin with.

give me a carerra, doesn't matter how fast this is, no stick = boring as shit.
I don't understand how anyone who drives any stick sports car and any auto "sports" car could think that any auto was more fun.

Early this year i had the chance to go for a drive in a 2009 Carrera turbo S cabriolet, and its definitely amazing wikipedia says its about 523hp and it definitely felt so. The one thing I loved about it is the engine noise, it sounds like a jet engine is taking off behind you, and yes it was stick.

/rant | Carrera's high price does not justify as a fun to drive car...I guess you're paying for luxury.
If you want a something fun to drive, get a Miata...if you wanna go lighter, faster and mid-engine with less driving aids, go with the Elise. It's still a lot cheaper than 911, Cayman or Boxster.
If you want something bigger, get a 370Z for a fraction of price.
