1-3mths LA Poker Trip

Hey guys,

I'm thinking of going on a trip to LA for about a 1-3 months. I'm mainly going there to play poker and the length of time I will be staying depends on how good I'm doing in poker. I need some help from you guys with some information. Does anyone know any good places that I can rent that is not expensive and not in a bad area, it needs to be a safe area. I'm also going to rent a car and I was wondering if you guys knew any cheap car rentals in LA on a monthly basis. Any information is appreciated.

If you want to do monthly car rentals, please do not rent from the LAX location. They will either say no or rape you for it. The car rental locations outside of LAX are generally cheaper. I can't recommend a specific location so best you call around and ask.

Stay out of East LA, Compton, Inglewood, Hawthorne, and parts of downtown (a simple search will yield results.) Some parts of Long Beach are pretty scary so use your due diligence.

Thx for the info. Do you guys know the names of good areas to stay at or the names of any good cheap car rental places. I'm trying to find a place close to The Bicycle Casino and The Commerce.

Does anyone have any info about places that do have rentals available at the moment. I'm most likely leaving in 1 week and I really need that information as soon as possible. Also, info on car rentals would be very helpful.

I would think that Las Vegas would be the destination of choice for a "poker" vacation? Sorry if i'm derailing your thread.

LV is only a few hours away. I'm sure he'll make the trek since WSOP events just started.

Last time I rented a car from LA, I got it from the Avis near the airport (there's a shuttle that picks you up at LAX and drives you to the rental place, about 5-10 min away), I booked through Priceline and got a 2012 Hyundai Sonata for around $120 for a week.

I'm moving to LA in a month for 6 months for work and was down there this past weekend. I rented my car from Avis as well, they're pretty cheap and if you're lucky, you might get upgraded for free with one of there "cool cars".
