you could give the chance creek fsr area a shot. just south of whistler.

you can get views like this:

but with snow

just be careful though and know the limits of your vehicle + off road driving experience. chances are it'll be covered in snow so chains, snow tires, recovery gear and a second vehicle are probably a good idea lol.

alternatively, there are some nice pull outs along green lake which is a nice place to chill at night.

portable stove with some instant hot chocolate is a nice touch if you plan on hanging out outside.

Looks amazing, is it worth driving to rainbow park or some sort of lake area and just chill near there?

Also anyone know how the tasting tours work? Do they take you around to each restaurant for one meal each?

Pretty self explanatory if you've read the website and/or watch their videos. They walk you around the village, visiting the number of restaurants in your tour. At each restaurant you'll get a "course". So for the 4-stop dinner tour, the first two stops are usually appetizers and/or tasting plates, the third stop is your main course and the fourth stop is dessert.

You get great food, no waiting and better prices then if you were to dine in one of the selections on your own.

Is it a big portion or small plate to be shared?

I did the tour, a few years back.

It's a good way to explore all of the restaurants.

The portions are small for all of the restaurants, but when combined, it is a large meal.

You walk around, so it's fine.

In the middle of the tour, you get to visit the huge wine cellar under Bearfoot Bistro (sp), and get to participate in uncorking a few bottles.

The dinner portion at Quattro was big IMO. Nice cut of salmon with their signature (and very tasty) pasta. My wife and I couldn't finish ours..
