Did a more aggresive pace today. Still no running in the beginning like I use to..managed a 43:xx. Hopefully with a short run in the beginning, I will manage a better time.

But I started to just fast walk
And last year I got my PB of 40.0x by walking the first bit, and pushing It during the last 1/4.
If I run the first bit, I feel like I don't have enough juice left in me to push hard during the last 1/4 Posted via RS Mobile |

I always end my hike still having some residual energy so I'm thinking if I run the first bit where my mind isn't beat yet, it'll lead to a faster time lol

Nothing crazy compared to the nut jobs in this thread, but, 2 weeks ago starting time of 1:24. 5 hikes and 2 weeks later, hit 1:12 this morning. Original goal was to get under 70 minutes..but now Can't wait till I get under 60 minutes. Posted via RS Mobile |

47:38 yesterday
Took a few small breaks at the 1/2 and 3/4 mark
And finished w/ gas to spare
Pretty confident I can get it under 45
But under 40 will still need somework.
Going to come back down to Van for 1 or 2 more grind(s) on the 13th of June before seek the peak on the 15th. Posted via RS Mobile |

^such a beast man! Good job
What do you guys do to shave your time? Do you just keep going?
I got 1:32 last week and was able to get 1:15 this week. These are the first two times I've gone lol. I want to hit around 1 hour. Is there anything I should add to my gym routine? I was thinking of doing a lot more stair master for my cardio instead of running. Posted via RS Mobile |

For me, no stopping. Slower pace if I'm tired but no stopping. I found that getting on my toes too do the shallower steps saves my quads so I can go hard for the latter bit.
45 still seems so far away.. lol

As an avid ex-GGer my best advice to people who want to get faster is repetition and biking.
I went up last week, but I don't think I'll be buying a pass this year. Pulled a 43:21 (pb is just under 39:00) and that makes me happy considering I haven't done the grind in over a year now. I just stick to recreational biking nowadays and I commute on a bike as often as possible. I'll go again at the end of the season to see if my times improved.

Dton, you are a MONSTER. That is INSANE.
52-55 minutes.
Fairly certain when my slight injury heals, I can do it in under 50.
I do squats but that's about it. Still with love handles and at 170-173lbs. 90% of it is mental imo, I breathe so hard, people look at me like I'm going to croak - it's about pacing yourself and driving through with your feet, use hips, and chest up.

But LOL I breathe hard as well so you're not alone. TBH I only started actually working out my legs over the last year. I've been doing the GG for over 5 years now and I always had skinny ass legs (people used to call me out on that), but I wouldn't care when I'm flying by most guys on the grind. Now I do squats regularly, but I wouldn't say that I find that it made the GG any easier, just my $0.02.
I say this every year to people who want to get better, cycling does wonders. Fastest guys up the GG are always the pro/semi-pro cyclists, and it's not a coincidence.

Thanks for the tips guys! Will be cycling for my cardio this week and will see if that helps. I'm also going to not stop when I take breaks which is what I've been doing. I would stop and catch a breather instead of continuing up.
Hopefully this Saturday I can hit around 1:00 - 1:10 don't think I would be able to shave off another 15 minutes :P hoping for 5 or 10

Try weighing 190 lbs which is where I am at..
Anyhow, went up the grind early in the morning on Sunday with the woman. Didn't so well this time around. 44 mins. I would like to say I was pacing my gf, but i think she was pacing me more than anything lol.
Probably time to lose weight lol
