Finishing Basement

Just throwing this out there to see if there is any interest.

My parents are finishing their basement on their 16 year old house (finally) and the guy who was doing the drywall disappeared near the finish and it seems no contractors want to take on the work.

What needs to be completed from my understanding is putting up gyprock in one room (theatre room) as well as taping, sanding, etc in that room. The entire basement still needs the flooring done, the laminate is already purchased. Bathroom also needs to be completed, all fixtures are purchased I think. The last thing would be painting I suppose although they could do that on their own.

Please PM if interested, as they are having a very difficult time finding anyone to come down and finish the job. House is in Surrey (Fleetwood).

As T4 said, check to make sure permits were given for everything done (electrical, plumbing, etc). And if permits were given, make sure an inspection was done and okay'ed by the city.

No one who is more than competent and capable of doing a quality job will want to touch finishing a basement if neither of those were done.
