BMW 2 Series (M235i) Revealed

The new 2 series is basically a replacement for the 1 series for MY2014

I always thought the the 1 series is a great enthusiast / driver's car (compact, light weight, rwd, tons of power with the N55 engine)...but I would never get one because it is ugly as fuck...
I am so glad BMW is finally getting rid of that ugly midget look...always thought the 1 series front looks like it got punched in the face..
the new 2 looks more like a smaller version of the new 3 series (F30)

Not bad, not bad! I like it!

that's just an updated 1 series.

Timpo 05-16-2013 09:15 PM

and people don't know enough about BMWs couldn't even tell the difference between 1 series and 3 series anyways...so what's the point of adding 2 series?

maybe they should kill 1 and 3 series and replace them with 2 series.

I think that's is the M verison
From what I read, there won't be an M2, hence they are calling it the M235i.

pricing should be similar to the current 1 series coupe

Dear BMW...

Just because there is a number available, DOESN'T mean you have to make a car to fill that void.

Sincerely, an ex-enthusiast

They have already started that, when they decided to cease production of the m3 and replace it with the 4 series

And Timpo , we can not tell if your posts should be thanked or failed.

They'r copying Audi's with the aluminum side mirrors.

But overall I like the look.

Yes, great look.

I think so too on the copying Audi thing.

I would take the CLA over this car.

RevYouUp 05-17-2013 02:20 AM

Nice, I like the way the body lines flow

id take this over a FWD CLA

604STIG 05-17-2013 07:58 AM

So was this car meant to compete in the same segment of the market as the Mercedes CLA? Are there any specs available to see a comparison of the two cars?

Z3guy 05-17-2013 09:45 AM

^rwd vs fwd....no comparison.........

Akinari 05-17-2013 12:48 PM

Meh, not a fan. I'm probably one of the few people who actually liked the current 1 Series styling.

I hate myself for saying this. No, I deeply loathe myself. I feel like what I expect a rape victim feels like, there is no amount of scrubbing myself that will make me feel clean after this. But I have to do it.

"Timpo, I actually agree with you."

There can't possibly be room for both a 1 and a 2 series.

Mark

IRRC in Europe, there's a new 1 series hatchback which will be sold alongside this new 2 series coupe.

lowside67 05-17-2013 03:09 PM

That makes much more sense. I think BMW is going to odd numbers are sedans/wagons/hatches and even numbers are coupes. I am in Spain right now and it is so weird to see 4 door 1 series hatchbacks, they are awkward looking ducks!
